2nd Annual Career Exploration Night a Big Draw


Medea Creek hosted our second annual STEAM Career Exploration Night on Thursday, February 18th from 7-9 pm in the Medea Creek Gym. We had 23 amazing and gracious STEAM professional who shared their insight and expertise with over 150 students and parents who attended. A special thanks to all our presenters.

Basketball Teams Sweep Lindero

Congratulations to the boys' and girls' MCMS basketball teams. They are still undefeated in every sport against Lindero Canyon Middle School this year with strong wins on Thursday. 
Big Sunday Registration is now Open
The OPUSD Committee Outreach Committee has opened up the registration process to volunteer on the May 1st Big Sunday Event.  We are asking our community members to "Give Back" by volunteering 4 hours of their day to help complete projects throughout our schools and community.  Little Hands and Big Hands are all welcome.  Young and old please join us as we work and play together!  Make sure you are able to work at the location of your choice by registering today. Club Updates
Future Business Leaders of America
                       
The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Club recently attended the Gold Coast Section Conference in Valencia. MCMS students competed against High School students in business and career competitive events.  Congratulations to Akash Juwadi who came in 3rd place for Introduction to Information Technology and to Kaitlyn Lee & Esha Jain who came in 5th place for Hospitality Management!  These students will be going on to the FBLA State Leadership Conference in April. 

Science Olympiad

On Saturday, February 13th, 9 students from Medea Creek Middle School and two 9th grade students from Oak Park High School represented Medea Creek in our first-ever Science Olympiad Regional Finals competition at Antelope Valley College. Competition occurred in twenty-three events ranging from testing events such as Invasive Species to build events such as Bridge Building.

Overall, Medea Creek finished in 14th place out of 27 schools that competed. Individually, several students from our team won event recognition. These students were;

Rida Shaik and Kaitlyn Lee for 6th place in "Anatomy and Physiology"
Justin Ho and Srijan Gattem for 5th place in "Bridge Building" and in "Road Scholar"
Sahith Doddipalli and Vipul Sangaraju for 5th place in "Fossils"
Cameron Sloan and Srijan Gattem for 2nd place in "Dynamic Planet-Oceans"
Justin Ho and Grace Ma for 1st place in "Experimental Design"

Congratulations to all the team members for their hard work and dedication! A special thanks to the High School students mentors who helped with both these clubs.

Culmination Planning Meeting
There will be an 8th grade culmination planning meeting 2/24 and 2/26 at lunch in room 
D-2. ALL 8th grader students are welcome to come and share ideas for the dance, breakfast, and class song. We need your input to make these events the best!

Puppy Love
Please bring any gently used or new blankets, towels, or dog toys to the school office over the next week.  We are collecting these to help the Agoura and Camarillo Animal Shelters, who are in need of these items for dogs and cats in these shelters.  Some of the schools have a box in the library and some in the office.  This drive is being run by Oak Park High School students in the SPAE Club - Students Protecting Animals and the Environment.
