STEAM Career Exploration Night  - Speakers Needed

STEAM Career Exploration Night is meant to create, and sustain student interest in science, technology, engineering, arts and math careers which are increasing and evolving at a rapid pace. However, STEAM is far more than this and is best viewed in terms of its attributes and skills that all students, and workers need to be successful in college, career, and life in the 21st Century. There is a growing demand for these competencies throughout today's economy beyond the traditional STEAM occupations.  This is a unique opportunity for our students and their parents to inquire, search and learn from local professionals in the STEAM and related fields, as they talk about the work they are doing and how to prepare for college-readiness.

STEAM Professionals Needed
We are recruiting STEAM professionals to be guest speakers for this event. Would you be willing to share your experience with students in middle and high school? If you are interested please complete this survey. Our hope is to represent a wide range of STEAM careers, and careers that require STEAM skills and attributes. If your career field is needed, we will contact you to be a guest speaker.
Ability Awareness Fair - Volunteers Needed
The Ability Awareness Fair will be held at MCMS on February 9th and 10th, 2016. Volunteers are needed to help coordinate 7th grade students as they move through the different stations. This wonderful hands-on event gives our children an opportunity to experience the challenges that individuals with special needs or learning disabilities meet every day. The activities students participate in help them understand the different ways these individuals overcome some of their limitations and how challenging that can be.

You can sign up to volunteer online by clicking here or email Darla Christensen at darlachristensen@hotmail.com.
