Medea Creek Establishes "Where Everyone Belongs" (WEB)

Alleviating the anxiety that comes from this transition leads to confidence and better success in the middle school experience. Camp Medea began as a two-day event with older students leading games and activities that introduced the campus to the incoming 6th graders. This was a very successful event from the beginning, but the staff recognized that it only impacted the beginning of the year.
School Counselors trained in a program called "Where Everyone Belongs" (WEB), which takes the beginnings of Camp Medea and extends them through the years. Odyssey of the Mind - Parent Coaches Needed
| |
Parent or Adult Volunteers are needed to coach teams for Odyssey of the Mind! Becoming an Odyssey of the Mind Coach will probably be one of the most rewarding volunteer roles you could possibly ever have. In the end, you will absolutely be amazed by what the kids have created and the problem they will have solved completely on their own...but they could not have done it without you as their coach!
- You will have the opportunity to work with a team of 5-7 kids to facilitate creative problem solving, team building and brainstorming.
- You do not need to be an expert in a particular area, you just need to have a passion to see kids grow and learn.
- You will provide an opportunity for students to showcase a wide range of talents such as script writing, prop and scenery design, music, dance, building, robotics, etc.
- Being a coach is the only way to ensure that your child, or any child, will be on a team!
Learn more and get trained on November 14 from 10 am -12:30 pm at Oak View High School in room 104. For more information and to sign up go to http://www.friendsofoakparkschools.org/programs/odyssey-of-the-mind
