A Heartfelt Thanks!
Thanks for donating
We would like to say a very big THANK YOU to all the 537 families (please click here to see the list) who have already donated to our annual "No Frills" Fundraiser. We are so fortunate to be a part of such a giving community and have raised a staggering  $107,888.

This year, because of the generous support of our Medea parents, our PFA is able to support classroom and teaching material, assemblies on drug awareness, bullying and internet safety, shade structure for Amphitheater area, installation of new gym scoreboard, additional classroom blinds, desks and chairs and ongoing support for communications, clubs, music and AR programs. Your generous contributions also allow us to continue to offer high caliber programs to our children.

By now you should have all received your tax-deductible receipt, as they were emailed out within the first few weeks of school. There were a few parents who did not supply an email or the email bounced back. If you have not received a receipt please email Sunita at mcmsnofrills@gmail.com and provide her with your child's name and donation amount.

By the way it's never too late to donate or apply for a matching donation! We would love each Medea family to consider making a donation. It is not mandatory, but it is the most effective and efficient way the PFA can continue to provide the needed support to our school. We suggest $180/$275 per student, but we would like to have 100% participation from all of our Medea families at whatever amount your family can contribute.

We welcome all donations at any time of the year, as we never say NO to supporting our school, children and teachers. Please click here for the No Frills Donation form.
Halloween Dress up Day, October 30
Halloween
ASB is sponsoring the Halloween Costume Day for Medea Creek this year. Great prizes will be available for those who participate in the Costume Show at lunch on October 30th. To participate in the Costume Show you must have "dressed up" in a costume that is easily recognizable to our ASB judging panel. For example, you are an alien because you have extra eyes, a space suit, and strange hair. Just putting on a sports jersey or coloring your hair will not qualify as a costume for the show. ASB has worked hard with the school administration to create guidelines that will allow for lots of participation and having fun, even if you do not want to full dress up for the costume contest.

Please read and follow the guidelines below.
  • Faces may only be covered with masks during the show at lunch.
  • Colored hair must be able to be returned to normal by the next school day.
  • Shoes must have backs, and underwear and private body parts must be covered as per school rules; no underwear, pajamas or slippers.
  • Because of state law, no real or fake swords, knives, guns, alcohol, or tobacco products may be brought to school.

Grades and Reports
Q Student Connection
1st Quarter grades are now posted in Q Student Connect under the Marks tab. MCMS uses a quarter grading system in which each quarter is an independent grading period. Final grades are issued at the close of each quarter.

Report cards are issued every quarter (ten weeks) in Q Student Connect. Progress Reports are issued every five weeks for students who are not meeting standards (D's, Fails, N, U's ); Progress Reports are also recommended for students who grades have drastically changed.

For more information visit the Medea Creek website and look for Grades and Awards under the Information tab.
Walk to School and World Food Day
Walk to School Wednesday
On behalf of the EEAC, a special THANK YOU goes out to Coaches Fast, Hogan & Hermosillo, and to Mrs.Large, for participating in Walk to School Wednesday earlier this month. These fantastic staff met MCMS students bright and early to walk to school from the corner of Kanan & Lindero and from Mae Boyer Park. Thanks also to Beth Felsen and Dierdre Dickey for helping distribute treats to the students who walked that morning! Walking to School promotes an active lifestyle and helps alleviate traffic and pollution in our neighborhoods. See you all for Walk to School Wednesday during Earth Week.

World Food Day
World Food Day was a great success and students really liked the plant based food samples. These dishes will become part of the main menu for campus lunches. Remember, every day you have a plant based meal option at school and you can choose to help stop hunger. At Medea the students increased their donations from last year making donations for 2080 meals! Way to show your compassion Medea! Oak Park's Environmental Education Awareness Committee would to thank everyone for their participation and donating their time and money. A special thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped with serving the food samples.
