Mt. Sac Race
Mt. Sac
On Friday, October 16th, 53 sixth, seventh and eighth graders from MCMS competed in a grueling 2 mile course at Mt. San Antonio College in Pomona.  The students, led by Coach White practiced three mornings a week for 4 weeks.  Our panthers competed against students from all over Southern California.  Each of the students who ran, worked hard and had excellent individual races.
Our Varsity Boys Team, made up of Michael Holcomb, Jackson Apar, Antonio Andraus, Ashton White, Ben Klepper, Anish Ravilla and Kevin Tan came in First Place in the Varsity Sweepstakes race.  It was an amazing performance with all 7 boys coming in the top 25.

Our Varsity Girls Team, made up of Malia Cohen, Athena Cruz-Albrecht, Abby Dermott, Julianne Dunn, Jaden Levinson, and Elisha Tong also placed high with third place.
An impressive honor was bestowed on our Coach Steve White, named Coach of the Year with all his grade level teams placing in the top 10!  Congratulations to all 53 members of our MCMS Cross Country Team and our Coach White.Go Panthers!!!!!

Volunteers Needed for the American Red Cross - Ventura Chapter
The American Red Cross Ventura Chapter is seeking volunteers who enjoy teaching grade school children about preparedness safety.

There are two programs offered: a Puppet Show, which teaches children about fire safety and earthquake preparedness using puppets and songs. Additionally, The Pillowcase Project is a preparedness education program for children in grades 3 - 5 which teaches students about personal and family preparedness, local hazards, and basic coping skills. The program leads students through a "learn, practice, share" framework to engage them
in disaster preparedness. Afterward, a sturdy pillowcase is given to each child and they are encouraged to build their personal emergency supplies kit.

Each program requires a bit of (free) training and school hours availability; because of the cost of becoming a Red Cross volunteer, along with the training involved, the Red Cross does ask for a year commitment. If you are interested, please contact Jinnine Nitschke, Volunteer Services, at Jinnine.Nitschke@redcross.org.
