 | Back to School Night this Thursday - 6th Grade Parents Only

The staff, students and Parent Faculty Association of Medea Creek Middle School cordially invite you to join us for our annual Back to School Night. We have two separate Back to School Nights. This week, August 20, will be for the parents of 6th grade students.  The evening will begin with a general meeting in the gymnasium starting at 6:00 pm. We will be introducing our faculty and staff, have important information from PFA and School Site Council. There will be a general presentation from our PE department and then parents will visit their student's classrooms period by period. A schedule will be sent home early next week. The purpose of Back to School night is for parents to hear presentations from the teachers regarding the curriculum and the classroom experiences your student will have this year. Teachers are not able to speak about individual students. Teachers will have sign-in sheets available if you wish them to contact you. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday evening!

Thank you for a good start to the school year. We appreciate everyone's patience and careful driving! - Please do not drive through, drop off, or pick up in any apartment or condo complex streets. The CHP does patrol periodically and will cite non-resident drivers who are accessing these areas. In particular, do not utilize Thistlegate Rd, Indian Oak Rd, Hickory Dr., or Foxwood Dr. These areas will be patrolled.
- For pick up, please pull forward whenever you can in the lot. The traffic at the bottom of the driveway can be cleared much quicker when everyone moves forward.
- Please continue to drive slowly throughout the traffic pattern and do not drive distracted with phone calls or texts.

Attendance Policy
Please call the attendance line any time you know that your student will be late or absent.

If your student needs to leave early for an appointment please have them bring in a note stating what time they need to leave and for what reason to the Student Window first thing in the morning to get an "Off Campus Pass". This will save you, the teacher and the parent volunteers any inconvenience. We do our best to not have to disturb classes during class instruction. Your student may never leave campus without an Off Campus Pass. When you are ready to pick up your student come to the main office to sign them out in the blue Student Sign-Out Log binder.
If your student returns from an appointment they need to check back in with the Student Window to get an updated pass.
New Dress Code for Leggings
- Leggings can be worn only with a top or shirt or dress that covers the buttocks completely.

Dear Medea Creek Families,
I hope your first week of school was a success! Quite a lot of work takes place during summer break to help ensure a smooth transition back to school. In addition to our wonderful Medea Creek staff, we are fortunate to have many parent volunteers that take time out from their summer activities to help our school prepare. I would like to take a moment to let you know we recognize and appreciate the help!
Thank you to Ragini Aggarwal our VP of Communication for her dedication with editing registration forms throughout her vacation and ensuring the registration documents were on the website ready for all of us!
A huge thank-you to our Registration co-chairs, Sue Many and Monay Zamani and the 120 parent volunteers for their time and effort to register over 1,100 students! We appreciate each and every one of you and say thank you for a job well done!
Thank you to our Hospitality co-chairs, Eva Doyle and Luz Olster, for their help in making the Camp Medea Parent Q&A session a success! The PFA conducted an informal Q&A session the first morning of Camp Medea to a standing room only crowd of 6th grade parents. There were lots of great questions and it was a wonderful opportunity to meet other parents.
Thank you to Stephanie Boggs and Lisa Statts, for jumping in their first year at MCMS to chair Spirit Wear sales. They designed a new logo and it looks great!

Volunteer Form
At Medea Creek, parents contribute in so many ways including volunteering in the office, helping educate at the Ability Awareness Fair, baking items for Open House, working in the library. There really is something for everyone when it comes to volunteer opportunities and we welcome all of you to get involved.
