Principal Benioff's August Message

Welcome Back to School!

Once again, welcome back everyone to a new school year!  It has been great to see all the students coming through Registration, and even though this has been a shorter summer, their smiles and enthusiasm were evident.  The staff at MCMS is looking forward to another exciting year!

Getting the school ready always takes a lot of people and a lot of work.   I want to thank all our volunteers for making Registration run so smoothly; I don't know any other school that can have so many parents donate their time and expertise.   Teachers began preparing their classroom weeks in advance, the custodians worked frantically through the summer to clean and repair, and our office staff has been getting to all the details.  Thank you to all!

Our 6th grade students attended Camp Medea, giving an overview of the school and introduced to our new program of "Where Everyone Belongs".  8th grade students have been training to be mentors and contacts to the 6th graders and their connections will continue throughout the year.

As usual with a new school year, there are some new faces around campus.  Please welcome the following staff members:

  • Roni Hernandez - Spanish I, Intro to Spanish, Electives
  • Maureen O'Hagan - 7th Grade Spanish
  • Mallory Casino - 7th Grade Humanities
  • Michael O'Hagan - 6th Grade Humanities
  • Samantha Senkiw - Dean of Students

Notes from the Office
First Day! Welcome Back!

We would like to welcome all our students. We are very excited to start a new school year!
There is always some nervousness and excitement about the first days of school and we want to have everyone have a great start. With this in mind, We would like to give some suggestions and reminders to students and parents to help everyone begin smoothly.
  • School starts August 11th, at 8:23 am, with the warning bell at 8:18 am
  • School ends at 2:40 pm - (Bell Schedule)
  • The campus opens at 7:30 am with supervision available and the library open.
  • Tuesday August 11th is an "A" Day ( 7th and 8th grade block schedule)
  • We encourage students to bring their own reusable water bottle and use the water stations on the campus.
  • Parents, we ask that you do not visit the campus at drop off.
Enjoy the last days of summer and we will see everyone on Tuesday!
From the Desk of Assistant Principal
Welcome Parents!  We will be sending, throughout the year, information about the emergencies that we prepare for as a campus community and the Emergency Drills we regularly practice as part of that preparation.  We will have our first fire drill on Thursday, August 13th.  We will be discussing fire drill procedures with students prior to Thursday.  For now, we would appreciate if you would check out the MCMS Website for "Emergency Information".  There is some helpful information AND a short,  informative student-produced video about the emergency release of students, should we ever need to do that.

All  good wishes for a SAFE, fun and successful 2015-2016.

Welcome to a great new school year.
Help us make the morning drop off go quickly and safely by remembering these key details...
Student Safety Image
  • No Parking in campus parking spots as they are all reserved for staff. Please do not park in Front of the Gym until after 8:30 a.m., it is our ONLY area on campus for student drop off. Please park on Doubletree in legal parking areas if you need to be on campus before 8:30.
  • Students should only exit a car on the sidewalk side of the car, never into the parking lot traffic.
  • Drop off students ONLY in the drop off zone in front of the gym. Please pull all the way forward.
  • Students need to be ready and exit immediately after stopping at the curb...Parents, please do not get out of your car.
  • After dropping in the drop off zone, please quickly move into the left lane when safe to do so enabling other cars to pull forward to drop off.
  • When dropping off on Doubletree Rd., please convey your intentions by using your turn indicators.

ASB Fall Fundraiser

Dear Medea Creek Community

First, we would like to thank you for your continued support over the years of our annual ASB fall fundraiser.   The money ASB raises each year during its fundraiser is totally used to support Medea Creek student activities throughout the year.   These activities (numerous dances with Deejay, games and other goodies, student interest Clubs, noon-time spirit actitivites, ice cream mountain, assemblies and much more) are accessed by all of our students and are free.

Our fall fundraiser is our biggest and most important fundraiser of the school year and we are always looking for ways to make it better each year. With 100% support from the students, we are excited to announce we changed our fall fundraiser to a Ultra Fun Run- The company we will be using is called Ultra Fun Run.  Ultra Fun Run offers our school the highest profits in the industry and the best prizes for our students.

With over 25 years of fundraising experience, Mark Backes - President of Ultra Fun Run, runs this full-service jog-a-thon company that helps raise the most funds for our school in a fun way and, in the process,  helps to teach students some handy skills about reaching  goals.
