2013 Town Hall Meeting Recap
A Town Hall meeting took place at the 2013 IPMA Conference. Here is recap and the highlights provided by IPMA's President Rob Lingard:
"IPMA is an organization dedicated to helping in-plants not only survive but thrive as invaluable resources for their parent companies. As we look toward the future, the three challenges of relevancy, cost effectiveness, and innovation, remain the same for all in-plants. IPMA provides the resources to help in-plant managers run successful operations. We will continue to offer a non-threatening environment where managers can network with other each other and receive instructional material from webinars, the IPMA listserve, our website, and our annual conferences. New for 2013 is the introduction of a new website which will add efficiency and functionality for our members. We will also begin holding regional meetings in selected geographic areas to further the educational and networking opportunities for members.
We are excited about the future and the direction of the organization and look forward to an excellent ongoing relationship with our members."

IPMA's 2013 Conference A Huge Success!
This year's IPMA Conference was held in exciting San Mateo, California from June 2-6. The Conference was a huge success and drew a crowd of over 135 in-plant managers from across the country, as well as outside the U.S., for the various educational sessions, a vendor fair, and innumerable opportunities for valuable networking (as well as an informative tour of Alcatraz and an exhilarating evening dinner cruise!). Keynotes and other speakers shared information from "the bottom line," how to work with consultants, the future of digital technology within the field, and how to use e-mail and the Web to your advantage, along with many other insightful presentations and general sessions. In-plant managers and personnel have found that Conference attendance has brought them fresh ideas, helped with industry networking, and has given them the opportunity to gain unique perspective into enhancing their business success. Here are some comments from this year's attendees: "The conference is an excellent way to hear unfiltered information about products and equipment from people who have a vested interest in succeeding." Brian Patterson "The IPMA conference is always great! The general sessions are always extremely informational. The vendor show is a great resource when looking at ways to expand services without a lot of pressure. I also like seeing more and more people become certified!" Beth Gatewood "I don't know why any in-plant would miss this event." Chris Anderson

"As a long-standing member of IPMA, I have often admired the quality of work that is produced by our members. This year was no exception as there were multiple entries that certainly deserved this prestigious award, so to be chosen as Best-of-Show winner by our peers is truly an honor for our organization. This year's award serves as acknowledgement of what we strive for on each and every printed piece: superior quality and attention to detail."

Fun San Francisco and IPMA Style!

Who says we can't mix business with pleasure? This year's Conference was punctuated with several opportunities to mingle and socialize while exploringthe landscape of beautiful SanMateo and San Francisco, California!
Saturday's pre-conference outing included an up-close-and-personal tour of the fascinating and eerie Alcatraz island, where Al Capone, "Machine Gun" Kelley, and other notorious criminals called home for the 29 years it was in operation.
Sunday, event participants joined in a Fun Run/Walk along the gorgeous bay where photo opportunities were abundant, and a socializing opportunity was provided during the Golf Outing held at the wonderful Poplar Creek Golf Course.
Sunday evening, participants gathered in the Bayside Ballroom for the Welcome Reception where we all enjoyed a buffet dinner, drinks, and a fun photo booth. See pictures from the photo booth here.
In addition to the awards reception and banquet, IPMA also hosted an evening dinner cruise on Tuesday that provided attendees a breathtaking view of the Golden Gate Bridge and Angel Island. Upon their return, cruisers embarked on a lovely stroll along Pier 39, which also offered the opportunity to visit musical attractions, shopping venues, and additional scenic views of California. And last but not least, everyone was welcome to shift gears in the Hospitality Suite. Here, people collected for a relaxing beverage and conversations that would range from "talking shop" to recounting the day's activities and seminars. It was a perfect way to network, get acquainted with others, and unwind after a full day of conference activity.
