President Anthony Seaman Retires from the University of Mississippi

Tony at IPMA 2012 IPMA President Anthony (Tony) Seaman has retired as director of University Communications for the University of Mississippi. About 150 colleagues attended Tony's farewell reception on February 1. During the festivities, he was applauded for his impressive printing career spanning over 50 years, serving as director the past 16 at Ole Miss. Tony achieved certification as a Graphic Communications Manager (CGCM in) 2004.
"Retirement comes as a difficult decision, leaving behind the work I love, as well as all of my colleagues at Ole Miss and within the industry," Tony explains. "It has been interesting, seeing the transition from letterpress printing to offset to digital to whatever is next. That's one reason for my decision. The industry is changing so rapidly; I no longer have enough 'ram' left to keep up. With that said, IPMA is one of the reasons I was able to keep abreast of all the changes in our industry. Technological advances, management challenges and solutions, new marketing philosophies, social media, vendor capabilities and most of all peer networking -- they are all part of the IPMA partnership. I plan to continue my involvement with IPMA and share my retirement experiences at many conferences to come.
With heart felt appreciation, I wish everyone success in all your endeavors."

Anthony Seaman, CGCM Born and raised in Cambridge, England, Tony followed in his father's footsteps, who was a letterpress compositor for 50 years. He entered the printing industry in 1960 as the first offset apprentice in a 300-person letterpress shop. He attended the London College of Printing in England, graduating in Photolithography. After immigrating to the United States in 1971, he worked several positions and in several print shops before accepting his current position at the University of Mississippi. Under his leadership, the shop has become recognized as a state-of-the-art digital media and graphics center. With his departure, long-time Associate Director Hilarie Bain will become the new director.

Tony at IPMA 2012 Night Outing Tony will serve out his two-year term as President of IPMA through March 31 when President Elect Rob Lingard will assume the presidential position.
