For 20 years Juan and Hector Espino worked in a room that is today jokingly referred to as "The Bread Box," a 670 square ft. windowless space once shared by three full-time print specialists who ran three digital presses.

But powerful winds of change began blowing just 15 months ago when Staci Hill inherited responsibility for the tiny, but very dedicated shop. It wasn't long before the Administrative Manager for Freese and Nichols, a 118-year old, 525-person Texas-based engineering consulting firm with a stellar reputation for quality, relocated the Print Shop to a larger floor, nearly tripling their space. To see what growth opportunities were available for in-plants, Hill joined IPMA and attended IPMA's 2012 Conference. "The biggest lesson that I've learned this year is the value of investing in your people. Had the Print Shop team not joined, we may very well still be in the state of status quo," she emphasizes.

Two Managers from North Texas Gain CMM Certification

Lora Connaughton, Assistant Director, and Glenda Riley-Smith, Mail Services Manager at the University of North Texas in Denton have gained certification as Mail Managers (CMM) through IPMA. Lora also recently gained certification as a Graphic Communications Manager (CGCM).
