Our Perspective
Economic News and Development

Investment. Jobs. We are extremely fortunate in Augusta County to have a strong and diversified business base. We are seeing businesses and organizations expand and invest in facilities, equipment, and people. Just in the last month, the following projects have been announced:

Todd Haymore, Secretary of Ag and Forestry with Joep and Lilan Paternostre, Bloomaker.

Bloomaker USA, Inc. announced its expansion that will include a $2 million investment to triple the size of its existing facility and create 98 new jobs over the next 3 years. Bloomaker is the inventor of a new floral category - long life flowers. You can find Bloomaker's tulips and amaryllises in local retailers on a seasonal basis.  Click HERE for great pictures of the groundbreaking event!

The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank announced the expansion of its facility which will increase storage capacity by 14 percent to 16.5 million pounds per year. This $3.6 million expansion will improve the warehouse and add space while growing cold storage and food salvaging of donated items.

Seven Arrows Brewing Company announced its decision to locate in Augusta County at 2508 Jefferson Highway. With an $800,000 investment and the creation of 7-10 jobs, the microbrewery plans to be operational this fall. Prepare to enjoy a variety of local flavors, such as Eventide IPA, Sinistral Wheat, Aurora Pils and Boreal Amber.

Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences began its inaugural doctoral classes in occupational therapy and physical therapy.  We welcome the first students to Augusta County!
