Greetings!

The Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company (CC&V) is working hard to keep you informed about the construction projects our employees and contractors are working on in the community. Thank you for taking the time to review this update.

CC&V is "Living a Mining Heritage," and recognizes the importance of historic preservation in the "World's Greatest Gold Camp!"

Staked in 1891, the Mary McKinney Mine, at the height of its operations, grew to occupy a large portion of Squaw Gulch. Here is a postcard from the 1900's with an artist's rendering of the mine:

As the Mary McKinney operations "played out," time reduced most of this industrial operation to ruins, but its crib wall (pictured below) has remained as a landmark along Colorado Highway 67 in the mining district.

Today, our community's mining heritage continues, and as part of CC&V's mine extension that was publicly permitted in 2012, we will begin preservation of the Mary McKinney Crib Wall by moving sections of it to join the restored and relocated Golden Wedge Gallows Frame (a.k.a. Dr. Jackpot) atop a new highway pullout and overlook, which offers vistas of the Arkansas River Valley.

Other parts of the crib wall will be used, when practical, in other areas where CC&V is doing historic preservation and reclamation. Click here to visit our website for more of our historic preservation efforts.

Respectfully,
