NYHeritage participants met in July at CDLC. There were informative presentations by colleagues at Albany Public Library, Hudson Valley Community College and Dudley Observatory/miSci. Member News

Geoffrey Williams, who has served as University Archivist and Campus Records Officer at University at Albany for 27 years, is retiring. He has been a staunch advocate for archives throughout the region, and served on the Documentary Heritage Program Advisory Committee since its inception in (approximately) 1990. Geoff serves on the New York State Historical Records Advisory Board and the boards of Capital Area Archivists and the New York Archives Conference. We wish him well!

 

Brenda Hazard, Library Director at Hudson Valley Community College, was recently honored with the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service. Brenda, who has been with HVCC since 2007, was recognized for her work in helping revitalizing the college's Marvin Library, which recently underwent a $1 million reconstruction and is now called the Marvin Library Learning Commons. Congratulations Brenda!  

Reminders
The Capital Area Library Assistants (CALA) is accepting nominations for the CALA Outstanding Service Award, designed to recognize the achievements of a local library assistant and CALA member who most embodies the mission and goals of CALA.  Go here for information and a nomination form. The nomination deadline is Nov. 1. 

The NY 3Rs Association, Inc. and its I2NY Library as Publisher Work Group are accepting applications for the 2014/2015 NY3Rs Association Library as Publisher Grant. The registration deadline is September 30th. Read more here
