The Capital Area Library Assistants (CALA) is accepting nominations for the CALA Outstanding Service Award, designed to recognize the achievements of a local library assistant and CALA member who most embodies the mission and goals of CALA.  Go here for information and a nomination form. The nomination deadline is Nov. 1.

Member renewal information for CDLC institutional members has been mailed. Thank you for your support. CDLC personal membership is also  available; personal members receive discounted rates to CDLC programs. Learn more here; sign up now to become a personal member through August 2015.

The Empire State Digital Network (ESDN) is gearing up to submit its first records to the Digital Public Library of America. The ESDN Metadata Working Group had its first meeting July 9 at CDLC; Susan D'Entremont, CDLC's Digital Project Manager, represents CDLC on this group.  The group is in the process of identifying digital collections that meet certain criteria to use as our test collections for the first DPLA ingest. We will likely include one collection from each of the six upstate NY3Rs that contribute to New York Heritage, with a goal to have the metadata in those collections cleaned up, submitted to DPLA and made available to the public by the end of the calendar year. Stay tuned for more information on New York Heritage and DPLA!
