CDLC  News

Thank you to outgoing CDLC trustees Patricia Baia, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences; Sara Dallas, Southern Adirondack Library System; and Candace (Dee) Portzer, Questar III School Library System, for service as trustees, and for their time and dedication!

 

Joining the CDLC Board of Trustees are Jen Cannell, Questar III School Library System;  Alexandra Gutelius, Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library; Brenda Hazard, Hudson Valley Community College; Sue Iwanowicz, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences; and Elissa Kane, Dudley Observatory. Welcome!

 

At its June meeting, the Committee on Resource Sharing (CORS) acknowledged Dennis Mott, Schenectady County Community College, for his years of service on the CORS committee. We also thank Dennis as the official "bag distributor" for the statewide courier service!

 

The Direct Access Program (DAP) working group meets this week to begin reviewing DAP. Group members are Sue Dague, East Greenbush Community Library, (co-chair); Sister Rose Hobbs, Maria College (co- chair); Jen Cannell, Questar III School Library System; Ginny Prew, Head of Circulation, Troy Public Library; Susan D'Entremont, CDLC and Marie Noonan, CDLC liaison.

 

At its June meeting, the CDLC Board of Trustees approved two new Committee on Resource Sharing members: Robyn Reed, Union College and Timothy Jackson, University at Albany. Welcome!

 

The Capital Area Library Assistants (CALA) is accepting nominations for the CALA Outstanding Service Award, designed to recognize the achievements of a local library assistant and CALA member who most embodies the mission and goals of CALA.  Go here for information and a nomination form. The nomination deadline is November 1.  

 

In July, CDLC members will receive renewal material for their annual membership dues. For 2014/2015, the rates for CDLC member dues have not increased. Thank you for your support of CDLC services and programs.

 

On Wednesday, July 23rd, NYHeritage participants are invited to CDLC to meet, share ideas and hear from other NYHeritage libraries. The day starts with an introduction to NYHeritage and how your organization can become involved and share its digital collection. All are welcome-details coming soon!

Lauren Cardinal has left Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library for Albany Public Library. Lauren has been actively involved in contributing content to NYHeritage. 

Reminders!
Now is the time to sign up for the discounted RDA Toolkit! (Full details at that link.) Through the NY3R's Association, Inc., CDLC members receive a 17% discount on access, which is better than the ALA rate. Participate by sending an email to admin@ny3rs.org, specifying how many logins you need.

NYS Historic Newspapers is available for libraries and cultural institutions across the state. Institutions are encouraged to submit their scanned historic newspapers for inclusion. Go here for additional information.

The Capital Area Archives Dinner is October 1 at the Stockade Inn in Schenectady, with speaker Thomas R. Porter, founder, spokesperson and spiritual leader of the Mohawk Community of Kanatsiohareke (Ga na jo ha lay gay), located in the Mohawk Valley near Fonda, New York. Details available at a later date.
