Parks and Recreation has many activities for the holiday season and winter.   Don't miss the play "A Christmas Carol" or the Town's Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.  Registration is now open for several winter indoor sports programs, some for youth and some adults.  We are pleased to announce that we are beginning to accept registration for some programs on-line, with more to follow.  On-line registration will only be open to Greenwich Residents who must prove their residency each calendar year.

 

Registration continues for seasonal membership to play  on the platform tennis courts at Loughlin Avenue.  The season of play began November 7, 2015 and runs through April 3, 2016.

Winter Indoor Sports
Youth and Adults IndoorSports
All programs begin in January.  Greenwich Residents can now register on-line for Indoor Baseball, Indoor Softball, and both Pickleball programs.  The on-line registration link is as follows: www.greenwichct.org/webtrac.  Please be sure to read important information regarding concussions.

Registration for several indoor sports is now available.  Indoor Baseball will be held on Saturdays for boys ages 7-10 years.  Girls Indoor Softball for ages 7-14 will also be on Saturdays beginning in January.   We will have two Soccer with Aldwin programs beginning in January.  Ages 4-8 can register for a class on Mondays and ages 7-10 years can register for a Wednesday class, click here.  There are also soccer programs available on Saturdays for ages 4-10, click here.
 
For adults, we have several options for Pickleball play.  Experienced players can register for play on one, two, or three days per week, click here    Novices can get some instruction in a Pickleball Clinic on Saturday afternoons.

On Monday, November 30th, the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center will host the play "A Christmas Carol" at 4:00 PM for Kindergarten through 6th grade children.  You must purchase tickets.
Friday, December 4th is the Town's Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.  Join Santa and his friends for refreshments beginning at 3:45 PM at the front of Town Hall.  Thanks to our sponsors, Stop & Shop and New England Custom Cleaners.

Youth Clinics and Men's League
cartoon-bball-hoop.jpgRegistration is ongoing for youth basketball programs.   Girls in Kindergarten through 2nd grade can register for the Girls Basketball Clinic to be held on Saturdays beginning November 21.  We also offer  Co-ed Basketball Clinics for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th grade.  These clinics will also be held on Saturdays beginning November 21 at two locations in Town.

Greenwich Recreation runs a basketball league for men.  Teams participate in either the Resident League or the Corporate League.  We are still accepting teams, contact Frank Gabriele.    Read more.
Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink    DHSR
The Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink is preparing for Session II of its Skating School which begins in January.  Mail-in registration begins December 7, so start looking at the class schedule now.  Classes fill up, so don't delay in registering!
  
The rink is located on  Sue Merz Way off Sherman Avenue.  For additional details on ice rental, hockey programs, skating lessons, public sessions and more, download our 2015-16 Dorothy Hamill Rink Brochure and the accompanying class schedule and registration form.  Parents, please read important information regarding concussions.

What's Happening in November
Much is in store at the EGCC for November including a Pigeon Show, Roller Skating, High Rise Basketball Academy, art programs, and more!.    For details on these and other events, read our   November Newsletter.
  

The Civic Center has rooms of varying sizes available to rent for your next party, meeting, or class!  Call us at (203) 637-4583 or contact us by e-mail.  The EGCC is located at 90 Harding Road in Old Greenwich. 

BWGCC Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center
BWGCC has many opportunities for play this season.   Youth Basketball for ages 5 through 10 has begun; young tumblers should check out Jack Rabbits Gymnastics which begins its winter session on November 23rd.  A Roller Skating Party will be held December 29; please pre-register.  

Drop-in Pickleball takes place on Mondays and Fridays from 10 AM-12 PM and now also on Wednesday nights from 7-9 PM.  Drop-in fee for each program is $4.00 per person per session.  KG Fitness Boot Camp Class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Register for one or both evenings.  Check out the Dance Pointe for all types of dance including:  Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap, etc..

Greenwich Skatepark skatepark

 Greenwich Parks & Recreation is planning a NEW Skatepark for its Arch Street location.  We'll keep you posted.

Griffith E. Harris Golf Course

Super Special:  November 1st until season's end (depends on the weather), every day, all day long Twilight rates will be in effect -  $20 for members and $30 for non-members.
  
The Griffith E. Harris Golf Course is located at 1323 King Street in Greenwich.  You can call "The Griff" as it is known at (203) 531-8253 or (203) 531-6944.  Go to the course web site at www.thegriffgolf.org for more information about the course including hole by hole diagrams with yardages and tips on how to best play the hole, directions to the course, fee schedules, how to reserve a tee time, policies, how to become a member, information about the clubs that play at the course, links to the Pro Shop and Restaurant, events and specials and a way to e-mail the course or be put on its e-mail list.

Department Wide News ..... 

Access Greenwich is a tool for residents to submit service requests on-line and through a free mobile application.  This service is being introduced by the Department of Parks & Recreation.  For more information click here.

 

Parks and Recreation will begin accepting reservations for picnic and overnight camping permits for the 2016 Season on Tuesday, January 19 at 8:00 AM at Town Hall.

The next meeting of the Board of Parks and Recreation will be Wednesday, December 2 at 6:30 PM in the Cone Room at Town Hall.  Much additional information can be found by viewing the Parks and Recreation page of the Town Website.  Office hours at Town Hall are weekdays, 8 AM to 4 PM, CLOSED Thursday and Friday, November 26 and 27 for Thanksgiving.

Parks & Recreation Foundation PRFoundation

The Greenwich Parks & Recreation Foundation was set up to receive donations, allowing the community citizens and businesses an avenue to donate to the Town of Greenwich Parks & Recreation projects and  programs.  The foundation is a 501(c)(3).  For more information and to donate, visit the Foundation website.
  
Through the Parks & Recreation Foundation, one is able to donate to the Parks & Recreation Scholarship Fund.
  
Recreation Credit and Refund Policy

Credit requests for recreation program registration will be considered if received in writing prior to the start of the program.  There is a $15 administrative fee for credits.
  
The general policy of the Recreation Division is that we do not process refunds unless a program has been cancelled.  Please read all registration information carefully and contact us prior to registering for a program if you have any questions.

Abilis Activities

Abilis is happy to share their Calendar of Recreational Activities.  While classes are broadly categorized, it is understood that the individuals served do not always fit precisely in one age category or another. Please feel free to contact Stacey Brazier, Manager of Activities.  Abilis is a non-profit (501c3) agency, located at 50 Glenville Street, Greenwich.  For more information on Abilis, read their information pamphlet.  

Farmer's Market  FarmersMarket

The Greenwich Farmers Market is open on Saturdays from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the commuters lot at the corner of  Arch Street and Horseneck Lane.  Saturday, 11/21 is the last date for the 2015 season.  The market is a Producers-only market which means that the produce and products you purchase are grown and prepared by the farmers themselves.  Contact them by e-mail.
