We've generated a lot of forward momentum over the past few months. Working with our various partners, we were awarded 52 FIT contracts through the Ontario Power Authority. Solar Flow-Through is committed to keeping the ball rolling with an eye toward developing this initial foothold into a strong presence in the province's growing solar power industry.

In this edition of Watts Current you'll learn more about our plans for the second half of 2013 and beyond.

We're also following encouraging news about the investment landscape for solar power projects as well as the significant solar energy initiatives being advanced by the world's most influential technology-driver: the U.S. Military.

I hope you enjoy this month's edition of Watts Current.

Solar Flow-Through Headed to Another Round of Procurement Alongside $10 Million Financing

After successfully securing 52 Small FIT 2.1 contracts (totaling 12.8 MW AC) from the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) in July, Solar Flow Through and its partners will be applying for contracts under the Small FIT 3.0 program opening this fall. The OPA expects to award approximately 123.5 MW AC in contracts under this new program.

The 52 contracts awarded to the Company and its network of solar development partners were for commercial rooftop projects. Moving forward, we're planning to research large ground-mount projects (500 kW to 10 MW) with solar developers to take part in the OPA Competitive Procurement Process in 2014.

Based on the significant number of Small FIT 2.1 contracts awarded to Solar Flow Through and our partners, we are conducting a second Flow-Through Limited Partnership for up to $10 million.

Solar Demand Rising, Investors Bet on Downstream Players

Solar power stocks have seen dramatic growth in the past few months with some solar panel makers up 50% to even as high as 400% since the beginning of the year. Solar power demandl is heating up, especially in China, Japan and the United States. With volatility in the solar panel sector still a limiting factor, analysts suggest 'downstream" solar market companies that install panels for consumers and businesses are in the best position to take advantage of increased demand and low panel prices.

U.S. Military Enlists Solar Power to Meet Rising Energy Demands

The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), the world's largest energy consumer, has mandated that renewable energy sources provide 25% of total military facility energy consumption by 2025. All three of the DOD's military branches are increasingly turning to solar energy to meet this target. Currently there are more than 130 megawatts of solar photovoltaic energy systems powering Navy, Army and Air Force bases in at least 31 states as well as the District of Columbia. Each branch has also developed plans to significantly expand its solar usage.

Did you know?

A rooftop Solar PV installation is like having a mini power station on your roof because it can supply power without being connected to an electricity grid. This makes Solar PV an excellent source of energy for remote areas.

Positioning for Continued Success

Coming off a summer of continued success in Ontario's solar power market, Solar Flow-Through is committed to keeping the ball rolling.
