Solar Flow-Through Plans More Solar PV Projects in Ontario
|
Following our applications for 126 solar PV projects in Ontario in the fourth quarter of 2012, Solar Flow-Through has opened discussions with solar developers and other related parties to participate in additional solar projects in Ontario. We are focusing on large, FIT2 applications, which would generate from 500kW to 10mW of power.
We expect to hear the results of our earlier applications in June. Once we know the status of those applications, we will apply for more small FIT2 projects with other developers. We are also preparing the 2013 Limited Partner (LP) offering which should be available to investors this summer.
Looking ahead longer term, Solar Flow-Through is assessing solar investment opportunities in other provinces of Canada as well as other renewable energy opportunities that would qualify for Canadian Renewable Conservation Expenses and thus be available as Flow-Through investments under the Canadian Tax Act.

Wal-Mart Announces Goal of 1,000 Solar Rooftop Facilities
Back in 2005, Wal-Mart announced a radical plan to power all its stores with renewable energy. There was no time frame stated for this ambitious transition, and the mega-chain isn't there yet, but no one can say they're not moving towards their goal. Last month Wal-Mart President and CEO Mike Duke announced the company intends to install solar power on at least 1,000 of the company's rooftops and facilities by 2020. That's a significant increase from the 150 solar projects the company currently operates or has under development in seven countries. |
BNEF Forecasts Big Jump in Renewable Investment Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) reports that annual investment in new renewable power capacity could rise from two-an-a-half to four-and-a-half times between now and 2030. Growth will be driven by ongoing improvements in the cost-competitiveness of solar and wind technologies relative to fossil fuel alternatives, the report said.
