November Momentum Newsletter

This year the Cans Around the Oval event received an unexpected surprise: 533.5lbs of food delivered by bicycle!  The sixth grade class of Mountain Sage Community School carried the food themselves, contributing to the more than 47,400 pounds of food that was donated to the Food Bank for Larimer County.

"This event truly illustrates what our community can to do when we come together to support people in need. On behalf of the senior citizens, children, families and nonprofit partners we serve, thank you for your support!, " Food Bank Executive Director, Amy Pezzani.

And we would like to extend a special Thank You to the students at Mountain Sage, along with the parents and volunteers who organized and led this effort.

County seeks signatures on trail connection petition

Larimer County has started a petition drive to show support for its efforts partnering with Fort Collins and Loveland to create connections between the cities' regional trail systems.

Supporters of the idea to connect the trail systems will seek grant funding to build the trail connections, and will use the petition to show community interest in the project.

According to the Larimer County website, if the effort is successful the trails will open before the end or 2016 and create a trail system of more than 50 miles for recreation and commuting.

The online petition can be found at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/support-regional-trails-in-larimer-county

Bicycle Ambassadors want northern Colorado to be the safest place to ride a bike, whether on the street or a trail. We train people of all ages and abilities to become ambassadors of safe cycling. Afterwards, they work to reduce the number of motor vehicle/bicycle/pedestrian crashes in our community by increasing knowledge and awareness about how to ride and share roads and trails safely.

What do we offer?

  • One-hour bicycle safety education presentations for kids, families, businesses, senior groups or any group of six or more people.
  • Education at community events. We can staff a booth, set up a bike skills course and more!

Check out bicycleambassadorprogram.org for more information.
