FC Bikes is excited to present a new initiative in Fort Collins called Open Streets! Open Streets is an initiative that promotes healthy communities by creating temporary car-free streets, so that people may use them for walking, bicycling, dancing, playing, and socializing. With more than 100 documented initiatives in North America (including Denver and Boulder), Open Streets are increasingly common in cities seeking innovative ways to achieve environmental, social, economic, and public health goals. FC Bikes is planning to host two Open Streets events in 2014 to promote active transportation for people of all ages and abilities. The first event is July 20 on Laurel between Remington and Lesser and Whedbee between Laurel and Prospect. The second is on September 14 on W. Elizabeth St. from Overland Trail to Shields St.
We can't wait to introduce this event to our community and we want YOU to be a part of it! See below how you can be involved this year.
