March Momentum Newsletter

I am not going to lie, it's been a busy couple of weeks between the Colorado Bike Summit last month and the National Bike Summit last week, but well worth it!  It is always inspiring to be surrounded by like-minded leaders in the industry who are also advocating for a safer environment for cyclists. The Summit began with the Women's Bicycling Forum, an encouraging day of presentations and speakers all focused on engaging and elevating more women in bicycling in the U.S.  How appropriate that we are kicking off our very own Women on a Roll initiative this Spring! It all starts with our Women on a Roll Bike Lunch Talk on April 2 and will be followed by a women's bike expo, family-friendly community rides and learn to ride classes beginning in May.  Details will be posted here: www.fcgov.com/bicycling

National Bike Challenge
May 1 through September 30
The National Bike Challenge is a nationwide event uniting thousands of current bicyclists - and encouraging countless new riders. In its simplest form it is a logging center for users to record miles ridden and be part of the national community of bicyclists. It is a free and easy way to challenge yourself, colleagues and the greater community to ride more. Users compete on a local, state and national level. The Challenge aims to unite 50,000 riders to pedal 30 million miles from May 1, 2014 until September 30, 2014. Now in its third year, the Challenge is a successful partnership between the League of American Bicyclists and Kimberly-Clark's Scott Natural Brand. For more information or to sign up, please visit: https://nationalbikechallenge.org/  More details to come about a collaborative local challenge.

Request a Presentation
BAP

Bicycle Ambassadors want northern Colorado to be the safest place to ride a bike, whether on the streetor a trail. We train people of all ages and abilities to become ambassadors of safe cycling. Afterwards, they work to reduce the number of motor vehicle/bicycle/pedestrian crashes in our community by increasing knowledge and awareness about how to ride and share roads and trails safely.

What do we offer?

  • One-hour bicycle safety education presentations for kids, families, businesses, senior groups or any group of six or more people.
  • Education at community events. We can staff a booth, set up a bike skills course and more!

To schedule a presentation or request Bicycle Ambassador presence at a community event, contact us.  Presentations are FREE, but donations are greatly appreciated!
