ASEAN Ceramics makes a big impact in Asia 


ASEAN Ceramics headlined the 10th International Ceramics Industry Development Summit alongside Ceramics China 2013 in Guangzhou this month where industry leaders from throughout Asia attended the Sino-ASEAN Conference Programme. David Aitken, Managing Director of AES Ltd., presented a keynote presentation on the economic structure and implications of the AEC 2015 free-trade agreement in Southeast Asia and explored the regional opportunities and developments of the ceramic manufacturing sectors in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore. China is one of the Ceramic powerhouses of Asia alongside India and Thailand and will feature strongly at the forthcoming event in Bangkok where a high level of Asian buyers from outside ASEAN are expected to visit the exhibition this September as global interest focuses on the surging markets of Southeast Asia. Asian exhibition to welcome a global line up 

Ceramic exhibition in Bangkok to host Southeast Asia's largest international gathering of ceramic manufacturers and suppliers for 3-day event in September.
 

BANGKOK, May 2013 - Asian Exhibition Services (AES) Ltd. in cooperation with the Thai Ceramic Society are expecting a significant showing for its first pan-ASEAN ceramic technology and materials exhibition to be held in Thailand from 11-13 September 2013 at BITEC, Bangkok. The event, ASEAN Ceramics 2013, comes at a time when Southeast Asia is experiencing significant growth and change in its traditional and advanced manufacturing sectors. 

 

ASEAN Ceramics 2013 is gathering fast pace with international groups from Italy, the United Kingdom, China, Turkey and France with independent exhibitors to include participants from Germany, the US, Spain, Japan, Korea, India, Luxembourg, Malaysia and Hong Kong. The conference programme is also attracting key players in the industry with global specialists local experts presenting the latest trends and opportunities for the regional market. Leading participants in the event include Imerys Ceramics, Cotto, Sacmi, Ferro, Endeka, Saint Gobain, System Solutions, Gabrielli, TCK, Siam NGK Technocera, Heraeus, Cleia, Craven Fawcett and Bedeschi. 


With increased attention on the fast moving economies of Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand, and a maturing of markets in Malaysia and the Philippines, South East Asia is becoming a highly competitive area to do business. The positioning of ASEAN Ceramics 2013 will also provide direct access to the wider key markets of Bangladesh, Japan and South Korea. The ASEAN Ceramics team has been busy developing the market reach of the event and penetration into these markets with the official roadshow so far touring throughout the ceramics regions of Thailand and the region. This has included Chiang Mai, Lampang, Ratchaburi, Saraburi and Bangkok and also Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, as well as covering Europe and the US. The next stops include Malaysia and the Philippines. 

 

Features in the event this year will include not only the vast expanse of ceramic manufacturing exhibits from around the world but also the ASEAN Ceramic Art, Design and Innovation Showcase, the region's leading international technical conference and, for the pre-registered and VIP guests, access to the various industry receptions, feature seminars, business matching lounge and the ceramic industry gala. "We are delighted to be pulling together this new platform, not just for Thailand, but for the whole region. This new, biennial event will provide an exciting meeting place in the heart of a dynamic region" confirms David Aitken, Managing Director of AES. 

 

As of last year, Asia-Pacific leads ceramic sanitary ware production with a share of 52.6% followed by Europe (17.9%), South America (12.6%), North America (9.2%), and the rest of the world (7.7%). Thailand is now considered one of the ceramic powerhouses of Asia alongside China and India with industry average growth rates of 9% and much higher levels in sanitaryware (13%), tableware (11%) and refractory (11%). 

 

The total export value of Thai ceramics was valued at US$ 742 million in 2012. ASEAN Ceramics 2013 will be held at BITEC, Bangkok's premier trade exhibition centre. The Italian Pavilion leads the Euro-rush to Thailand 

The Italian National Pavilion at ASEAN Ceramics 2013 takes a lead position in the European dominance of Southeast Asia's #1 ceramic manufacturing exhibition in Bangkok
