A Word from the Editor

At Work Editor, Julie Morrow, welcomes you to the January/February issue of St. Mary's At Work focused on heart care. Read as Julie discusses how St. Mary's, in partnership with Ohio Valley Heart Care, provides nationally-recognized, comprehensive cardiology services for the Tri-State. This issue will be Julie's last as Editor, as she transitions the newsletter and employer-related responsibilities to Stephanie Jenkins, St. Mary's Worksite Health Services Coordinator.

Stephanie Jenkins - St. Mary's Worksite Health Services Coordinator  
Stephanie Jenkins

Stephanie Jenkins was recently named St. Mary's Health's Worksite Health Services Coordinator. In this role, she partners with area employers to help develop and expand their onsite health services, including worksite wellness, injury prevention and employer based clinics. Stephanie will also be taking over responsibility for the St. Mary's At Work newsletter as Editor.


Hypertension 
Chronic high blood pressure, also called hypertension, has been shown to directly increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. Learn the risk factors for hypertension and steps you can take to control it.

An 18-year study has found that eating three or more servings of blueberries and strawberries each week may help reduce a woman's risk of heart attack. Read more to find out about this study.
