Wow! September has been an awesome month to say the least. My trip to Beijing was a truly unforgettable experience capped off by a strong race and a win!

IMG and Fengtai put on a fantastic show and really took care of the professional athletes. They flew each of us to Beijing in business class, picked us up from the airport, put us up in a beautiful hotel, provided meals, and shuttled us to and from the pool leading up to the race. They even took us all sightseeing to The Great Wall, Summer Palace, Silk Market, and more. I met so many athletes from all over the world and made friends that I will have forever.

The race itself was one of the most challenging courses I have ever done. I led the race out of T1 and pushed hard to keep it. You can read details of the race on my blog (Victory at the Beijing International Triathlon).

After the race I had some time to enjoy the Chinese culture before traveling back to Boulder. The trip was smooth but it is taking me some time to get back to a normal sleep schedule. The jet lag traveling east is much worse than traveling west. I have taken some time and slowly built my training back up to be ready again for 70.3 racing.

I am racing on Sunday, October 4th, in Henderson, Nevada at IRONMAN 70.3 Silverman. Last year I came in second place at this race despite an epic blow-up on the run starting at mile 2. The course is extremely hot and demanding and I know I will be tested both mentally and physically on Sunday. I want to race to see how my body responds from the big travel and also to simply just to challenge myself.

I am not sure it's a good or bad thing that I know what I am getting myself into but I will be ready to race come Sunday!

More than 1,600 professional and amateur athletes from more than 23 countries participated in the fourth annual Beijing International Triathlon, on Sunday, Sept. 20. It was Americans Eric Lagerstrom and Lauren Goss who each earned the victories in their first attempt at this race.

"I never thought I would ever be racing with 'the greats' Greg Bennett and Matt Reed," said 2015 Beijing International Triathlon Winner Eric Lagerstrom. "I grew up seeing these legends, Greg and Matt, on the covers of Triathlete Magazine and to be racing with them and then sharing the podium here in Beijing is unbelievable."

"The bike course was technical and the run course too with 600-plus stairs," said 2015 Beijing International Triathlon Winner Lauren Goss. "This was the most beautiful course I have ever raced and the biggest win of my career."
