"Any religion that scares you is working to darken your mind."
"Our interpretation of romantic love circles around sex and fulfillment of emotional needs. What could be a flowing ocean is thus limited to a few drops of stagnant water."

The Gift of Love
by Sarai Salinas
We often hear that you can't buy love, but in 2012 close to $18 billion was spent in the U.S. alone on Valentine's Day. One billion Valentine's Day cards are sent each year, coming in second to the 2.6 billion cards that are sent on Christmas. If ever there was a time to do something unique, I would say this is it and what better cause than in the name of love. Read More |

A Note from Our Founder:
Welcome to our Feburary newsletter!
February brings us Valentine's day, a day that' s more popular among retailers than anyone else. Just like other occasions of the year, this day is also cashed with the help of emotional marketing. We are constantly at the mercy of programmed conditioning structures of the society. We buy things things that we don't need to please the people whom we don't like. Only a human being can do it without feeling an iota of self doubt. To express my views on love, a highly misunderstood word, I wrote a blog last year on the Intent blog which I am sharing with you in this newsletter again. Don't believe me blindly on it. I urge you to explore the journey of love in your life and act accordingly.
Gurdjieff said it beautifully, "It is the greatest mistake to think that man is always one and the same. A man is never the same for long. He is continually changing. He seldom remains the same even for half an hour." We have a powerful tool; its called 'power of choice'. Everything we do has a choice in it. Your choices will manifest your reality.
I urge you to check out The Chopra Well, a You Tube channel created by Deepak Chopra. The show features eye opening truths and wisdom which can help you tremendously in spiritual growth. In this newsletter, we have included a promo of the upcoming show 'Perfectly Imperfect Parents', hosted by Mallika Chopra, founder of Intent. I also wish to take this opprtunity to congratulate Tathaastu magazine for successful launch of the magazine in India and Canada. Tathaastu accompanies me in all my travels and serves as the much needed refreshment during flights. Considering its vast reach, there are good chances that its available in your country.
For those emailing BTN for my upcoming workshops, I will be in Los Angeles, San Fransisco, and San Diego during Feburary leading private consultations and meditation workshops. You can email RSVP@BreakTheNorms.com for any information needed.

Love In The 21st Century
by Chandresh Bhardwaj
"The minute I heard my first love story I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don't finally meet somewhere. They're in each other all along."
-Rumi
Can you imagine what would become of Rumi if he saw the current state of relationships in today's world? The modified quote would read as, "The minute I knew I was in a commitment, I started running away not knowing I can't run too fast. I realized lovers can't run away for too long. Divorce is the only answer." As insulting as it sounds to Rumi's golden words, sadly it has become the current state of our relationships. Read More

Awakening your Life to the Present Moment
By davidji
For thousands of years, people have used various techniques to bring their minds to a quieter state of being. Depending on where in the world they have lived and what their culture or society has encouraged, human beings have come up with an extraordinarily rich array of practices for going beyond the ordinary waking state to expanded states of consciousness.

Don't Die With Your Music Still In You:
One on one with Serena Dyer
What inspires you everyday? Each day is different, but I know that mostly I am inspired by seeing things that are upsetting or violent, such as the news on TV, knowing that I can't change it, and therefore working on being more loving within myself. I do not avoid the news because it is sad, I actually watch it so that I know who to send more love to. We cannot change the world, but we can change ourselves, which is what I set out to do each day. As odd as it is, good and bad things really inspire me! |
