PFLA Private Forest Matters
March 2015

Spring is shaping up to be a busy time here at PFLA headquarters.

After wrapping up the hometown tour in late March, we'll pack up the PFLA info booth and head to the Association of Vancouver Island & Coastal Communities (AVICC) convention, in April, to educate and inform local governments about the programs and practices in place to promote responsible forest stewardship on BC's private forest lands.

Then we'll hop a plane to Ottawa, in early May, where we'll meet with other stakeholders, elected officials and government staff about key policy areas crucial to land values and sustainable forest management.

We're also ants-in-our-pants excited about the upcoming conference and AGM, in early June, and we're deep in the planning stages to bring together tour stops, speakers, guests and presentations worthy of a 20 year celebration.

As always, thanks for your interest.

Hometown Meetings Tour: That's a Wrap

A hearty PFLA thanks to everyone who joined us for the hometown meetings this year. We sure appreciate your time and your input. After tonight's meeting in Courtenay, we'll wrap up the tour, March 28th, with our last meeting, on Galiano Island. If you weren't able to join us, but you've got feedback, questions or wisdom to share, please give us a call, write us a note or send us an email. Your contributions are important and make a difference to the association. We'll follow up a bit later with more detailed findings and inspirations from this year's meetings.

prescribed burning photo 1 Prescribed burning is an important forest management tool. It's an opportunity for forest owners and land managers to take advantage of the season's cooler temperatures and wetter conditions to manage wildfire fuels and minimize the risks of uncontrolled fire during hotter times of the year.
