PFLA Private Forest Matters
January 2015

Happy new year and welcome to the latest edition of the PFLA online newsletter. The transition to a new year is often marked by goal setting, sparks of inspiration for new endeavors, or maybe a renewed sense of vigor for long-term plans still in the works.

Here at the PFLA, we're particularly excited about 2015 because it marks the association's 20th anniversary. That's right, 20 years of proudly advocating on behalf of B.C.'s forest owners. Stay tuned for more celebratory details, but for now we wanted you to know 2015 is kind of a big deal for us.
 

In 2014, B.C.'s forest owners lost over 45 million dollars as a result of log export restrictions. That's 45 million dollars directly transferred from the people who grew the trees to the people who bought the trees at a discount. PFLA spends considerable effort improving awareness, at both the federal and provincial levels, of the contributions landowners make to critical wildlife habitat in British Columbia.
