Private Forest Matters Newsletter
February 2013
Greetings!

A warm welcome to the latest edition of the PFLA online newsletter. As always, a big thanks for your interest and taking the time to read through our materials. Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, feedback or suggestions.

A few months back, we came to terms with the fact that most people aren't as familiar with the Managed Forest Program as we are. This realization inspired our 4-part Managed Forest Fundamentals series. We're not brain scientists, so we can't say for sure, but it seems possible similarities in the names: Private Forest Landowners Association (PFLA) and Private Managed Forest Land Council (PMFLC) create some confusion about the roles, responsibilities and purposes of the two fundamentally different organizations. read more...»

Out and About with PFLA

We're pleased to report another successful mission to the the two-day Islands Agriculture Show held at Cowichan Exhibition Park in Duncan. An excellent opportunity to connect with farmers, agricultural experts, elected officials and the good people of the Cowichan Valley, PFLA office manager, Ina Shah, and members of the Bealing family were on hand to ensure information about private forestry was doled out with the passion and flare it deserves. Seedlings were a big hit too!

***Error Message*** Unavoidable adjustments to the dates of the Nanaimo and Kelowna hometown meetings have caused a few bumps in the otherwise steady course of our fastidiously charted communications plan. To make sure you have the correct date marked in your calendar, please follow the link for accurate, up-to-date, we-promise-not-to-change-it-again schedule information. Apologies for any confusion.

Once you've conducted your forest inventory and identified your personal goals and objectives, the next step on the path to a successful management plan is to consider the range of management options available and develop a workable plan to connect your options with your with your objectives. read more...»
