November 2011
PFLA Private Forest Matters
|
Greetings! Welcome to the November issue of the PFLA Private Forest Matters! As always, we appreciate you taking the time to read through the newsletter and look forward to hearing from you. |
You may have noticed, the issue of log exports in B.C. is
contentious. Over at the PFLA blog, we're committed to providing straightforward, factual information from the perspective of private forest landowners. Given the current situation, we believe log exports are an integral component of B.C.'s forest industry. We're not alone.

Out and About with the PFLA
2011 State of the Island Economic Summit PFLA had a productive and engaging time at the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance's (VIEA) 5th annual summit, held October 18th and 19th, in downtown Nanaimo, B.C.
The event was a great opportunity to connect with youth, First Nations, elected officials, business and community organizers, entrepreneurs and other inspirational leaders on Vancouver Island. The PFLA info booth, chalk full of information about private Managed Forests, drew quite a crowd (who could resist that owl?).
Dialogue Session in Port Alberni - November 14th, 2011 Healthy Forests-Healthy Communities has organized a series of public meetings across the province to generate recommendations about forest land management in British Columbia.
The next meeting is November 14th, 2011 in Port Alberni (7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Great Room, Tseshaht Admin. Office).
PFLA looks forward to the opportunity to ensure the voice of private forest landowners is heard. Hope to see you there!
The Canadian Private Forest Landowners' Committee PFLA is proud to announce our involvement with the Canadian Private Forest Landowners' Committee (CPFLC): a coalition of large and small forest owners, farmers, families, associations and federations, across Canada, who rely on resources and income generated by private forest land.
You can learn more about the CPFLC's background, purpose and members here. Let us know what you think. |
Thanks again for taking the time to read this month's edition of the PFLA Private Forest Matters.
Sincerely, Rod Bealing, Executive Director
