When stitching Basketweave, never run the threads on a diagonal.  If you run your threads on a diagonal, it will show on the front as a stripe mark.  Instead, always begin and end on the vertical or horizontal.

Greetings!

 

The Village Ewe is receiving new canvas designs every day!  The 2013 Melissa Shirley stocking has been received, as well as new canvases from Susan Roberts, Rebecca Wood and Julia's Needlework.

 

It's not too late to consider a custom painted design for a graduation gift.  School "crests" on belts, pillows, box tops (see last month's newsletter) and paper weights (below) are popular graduation gift items.

If you are looking for a quick project, we can have an ornament with the school seal painted for you, which also can be monogrammed with a graduation date. 

 

It seems like only "yesterday" that the first edition of The Village "Newes" was issued in June 2011.  Now 16 issues later, we've begun to archive past editions.  If you want to review prior issues for the Tip of the Month column or the Featured Designer, you can view past editions on the home page of The Village Ewe.

Upcoming Classes and Workshops

 

Beginner Classes: Tuesdays - 10 am to noon 

April 23, 30 and May 7, 14

Learn basic stitches using a variety of threads.  The cost of $250 includes all the materials and instruction.  Please sign-up by March 31st via email or calling 203-637-3953.

 

Workshops: Tuesdays - 10 am to noon

Please reserve your spot in advance to receive personal attention for a new or old project.  The cost is $15/hour.

 

Intermediate Class: Amanda Lawford Trunk Show Class

Saturday, April 20th - Noon to 4 pm

Choose an Amanda Lawford 5" x 5" square.  We have stitch and threads guides to assist you.  Space is limited, so please sign-up early via email or calling 203-637-3953.  The cost is $150.
