Remember when there was no work? Wellllllll, along came Sandy! Now is our time to shine and do what we do best. Your patience is being tried, I know. Insureds are panicked because they have no idea of what to do. People are giving them advice (both good and bad) from all sides. We are telling them one thing, their uncle is telling them something else. Patience. Have patience. Most of the insureds have never seen anything like Sandy. It is never so real as it is when it happens to you. They need help. Our help, because we are the professionals and have helped so many before. We can guide and reassure them to accent the positive and negate the negative.
Remember to make your reservations and plans to attend the convention in Houston in January. We will all need a break and a great time will be had by all. The education committee has done a fabulous job and there will be an abundance of new CE topics. You will be glad you came. We are looking forward to seeing each and every one of you. Also, tell your fellow adjusters and friends about NACA and encourage them to join and attend the convention. They will be glad you did.
On another note, my time as your president is quickly drawing to an end. I cannot express what an honor and privilege it has been to serve you and our organization. I would like to thank the board and committees for their untiring time, effort and support. It has been an honor to serve with each of you. Last, but certainly not least, my thanks to Lori Ringo for all she has done and continues to do for NACA. Lori, we truly appreciate your dedication and devotion to NACA.
To our members, please consider getting more involved in NACA. We need each and every member to be involved. It has been such a rewarding experience for me and I know you will find it to be the same.
Again, my heartfelt thanks and I hope to see all of you in Houston.

NACA MENTORING PROGRAM
Sandy put many of our NACA Member Mentors in a position to mentor a new adjuster. The process of mentoring begins with a request for me to email the list of Newbies created from our website registration page. This Excel list can be sorted by each field to help the Mentor determine which Newbie will best meet their needs. We have added a new field to this spreadsheet. If you have used a NACA Newbie, please send me a brief paragraph letting me know how it went. This will be added to the spreadsheet so that future Mentors will know how that particular Newbie worked out.

2013 CONVENTION EDUCATION SCHEDULE
The 2013 Education sessions offer some great classes for any adjuster. You can expand your knowledge on flood claims, claims handling systems, fraud claims, auto claims, environmental damages, diversity and inclusion in claims handling, claims handling technology, commercial policies, inland marine coverage, leading claims software programs, lightning damage, structural framing, as well as the necessary ethics course, a class discussing the unique financial future of the adjuster and a forum made up of some of the leaders of adjusting companies.
Many of our class instructors will be offering state approved CE's. All other CE's will be provided by CEU Institute. The last page of the Education Schedule is a table showing all CE's being offered. This table will be updated often as new CE's are approved. The online registration forms have been updated to delete the additional $15 charge for each state CE filing. If you have already printed out a form, please disregard these charges. CEU will not be passing these charges along to us! All approved state CE's are included in the registration fees.
A unique offering for 2013 is the "Haag Certified Roof Inspection" course beginning Wednesday, January 23rd. This 3 day course is open to the public and has very limited seating. Anyone can register for this course using this link. However, if you register to attend the NACA convention, you will be given a code that will take $200 off of the class fee.
Seating for all classes is reserved on a first paid basis.
Don't be left out - Register today!

WHY ATTEND THE NACA CONVENTION?
In this day and age, you can do pretty much anything over the internet -- fulfill your state CE requirements, "link" up with other professionals, apply to work for a company -- all while drinking your morning coffee and wearing your pajamas. So why, you ask, should you attend the NACA convention? Let me answer your question with a question -- Have you ever purchased something online and when it arrives, it is nothing like what you expected? Attend the 2013 convention. You will get so much more than what you are able to get online. You will not only get CE credits, you will understand the courses you attended which will help you become a better adjuster. You will have the opportunity to meet other professionals and discuss the ins and outs of your shared profession. And, you will meet representatives from companies face to face. Who do you think they will remember first, the applicant that submits information online or the one who shook their hand at the convention? Register now to attend the 2013 NACA convention in Houston, January 20-24.

2013 GOLF TOURNAMENT
Hello to all NACA Convention Attendees,
On Monday, January 21st, we will have the privilege to play the Peter Jacobson designed course in beautiful Cypress, TX for the 2013 golf outing. This is truly a beautiful layout. The format will be a four person scramble with Mulligan's if purchased. There will be a long drive hole prize for the men and one for the women. One par three will have a closest to the pin prize.
If you have never played in this tournament, it is a laid back fun time and I would like to see more women players. You don't have to have a handicap or a good swing to play in this tournament, just come out and have a good time. We can put you with your own group or fit you in with a group.
If any organization would like to sponsor a hole, please contact Lori Ringo.
Here is a link to the golf course.
I hope everyone is able to work hurricane Sandy and attend the NACA convention in Houston.
