Paladar Opens in Gaithersburg, MD
|
With five successful locations across Ohio, Florida, Virginia and Maryland, Paladar Latin Kitchen & Rum Bar was preparing to open their third location in Maryland when they came to the agreement that it was time for a change - they were seeking a bolder look to match their vibrant expression of food.
Paladar Latin Kitchen Partner, Elie Weiss, a long time personal and professional advocate of Richardson, realized this as the perfect opportunity to engage the Richardson creative team to completely transform the Paladar dining experience. They expressed the need for a better representation of the Paladar brand in the restaurant, focusing on its mantra of "sweet flavors, spicy life."
Open to the public last month in Gaithersburg, MD, located in Downtown Crown lifestyle center, diners feel immediately welcome upon entering the new space, revealing Latin cues without being thematic. There is a residential quality that reflects the coziness of traditional paladares - small, soulful, and comforting restaurants run out of Cuban homes, all the while maintaining the vibrant and active air that respects the Latin culture. While many details are high-end, the rawness of the space brings a casual quality that makes Paladar a destination for any occasion.
The Host station you see upon entering is a traditional Spanish bench that was inspired by a 14/15th century desk. The fresh Spanish tile provides a great backdrop for the space, and is featured on both sides of the wall separating the bar from the open space dining.
"I was told that the tile wall that continues into our vestibule is the hot spot for people to take pictures." Says Andy Himmel, Founder & Co-CEO. "They joked it was like a red carpet background. People respond very well to it."
We look forward to sharing more photos of the completed project very soon. Check our website for more updates and photos in the near future!
