Black Fly Affair 2014
The 'gates are open' so make your reservation today for this year's Black Fly Affair: A Hikers' Ball, taking place Saturday, May 31, at the Hiland Park Country Club, Queensbury, NY, 6:30-11:00pm. Most recently joining us for our "Trek to The Track" is L. George Moon a.k.a. 32 Mile Moonshine Batch 1 Bottle 46 who has conquered the 46 high peaks and is now a 46er! Robin and John McDougall, owners Lake George Distilling Company, will be serving samples of their spirits alongside Davidson Brothers' craft ales, and L. George Moon itself will be up for auction. It's not too late to join the Honorary Committee, become a corporate sponsor or donate an auction item. Auction preview is open and items are added weekly, so check back often. Don't be 'shut out'!

National Trails Day 2014 National Trails Day� 2014

The weekend of June 6-8, 2014, come to Northville, NY to celebrate the American Hiking Society's National Trails Day�. All weekend activities are FREE and sponsored by the Adirondack Mountain Club in conjunction with the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Northville Merchants Association (Public is welcome). 2014 marks the 90th anniversary of the Northville-Placid Trail, the very first trail project undertaken by ADK! Throughout the day on Saturday, stop by Northville's Waterfront Park to enjoy a variety of activities and exhibits, as well as seven ADK-led volunteer trail projects. All Northville-Placid Trail Lovers: Friday night, 5-9pm, the NPTrail Chapter is hosting "Happy Hour and Desserts" at the Northampton Beach Campground Pavillion. Come and meet other members of the chapter, N-P Trail fanatics and ADK trail volunteers. More to come...

2014 Spring Outing   May 30 - June 1 
ADK's Onondaga Chapter and the Finger Lakes Trail Conference are  co-hosts for the 2014 Spring Outing. It is being held May 30 to June 1 on the beautiful campus of Cazenovia College (about 20 miles southeast of Syracuse).  
Outings will include pedaling, paddling and hiking. Participants can hike on the Onondaga Trail, Finger Lakes Trail, North Country National Scenic Trail as well as other local trails. Pedal the rolling hills and scenic lakeside routes or paddle pristine Cazenovia Lake or nearby lakes. Evening programs are being planned, including a musical concert Saturday evening.

Threat along the shores of Lake Champlain Canadian Pacific Rail Line Carries Threat Along the Shores of Lake Champlain to the Port-of-Albany
Recently, the North Woods Chapter of ADK alerted ADK's Public Affairs Office in Albany to a significant threat to Lake Champlain. Canadian Pacific Rail Lines carry highly volatile light Bakken crude in rail cars that are thin and vulnerable to rupture and explosion in derailments.
