  Fall and Winter Checklist

If you don't need tree trimming right now, you may want to consider a few additional landscape and outdoor living activities for this time of the year:

  1. Have a general clean out of beds to remove weeds, leaves and debris.
  2. Replenish mulch to control weeds, keep soil moist and healthy and lower water usage.
  3. Have irrigation systems installed or serviced to save money by watering efficiently.

  4. Clean, treat and repair hardscapes
  5. Begin designing and planning for your custom pool construction so you can enjoy it next spring and summer.
  6. Consider an outdoor kitchen or grill before the holidays.
  7. Have outdoor lighting systems checked, repaired or replaced.

Late Fall & Winter - The Best Times to Trim Your Trees

First, you can help maintain your tree's health by removing dead, diseased and broken branches. Also, pruning in the late Fall and throughout Winter makes it safer for your family and property. Pruning can also be done for aesthetic reasons, including letting more light onto your property or improving a view.

Pruning during the dormant season is ideal because it's easier to spot branches that should be removed. Additionally, doing this work in advance of rough winter weather can greatly reduce a tree's risk of damage or failure during a storm.

Because problems are more evident when a tree is dormant, Fall and Winter are a great time to have tree safety checks. Tree professionals, like Complete Landsculpture, can
look for signs that your trees may be weak or a danger to your family or property.

It is important that you take responsibility for seeing that adequate attention and care is given to your landscape through every season. If you have any questions or concerns about your landscape, please contact Complete Landsculpture.

Elements of a Great Outdoor Living Space
The secret to great outdoor living area is in the details.  No matter what your style, budget or space, there are always options to make your space unique and something to enjoy for years to come.

When planning and creating your great outdoor living space, you may want to consider some of the following features:

  • Water Features: Nothing is more peaceful or relaxing than a bubbling pot, fountain or water garden.
  • Pergolas, Pavilions and Other Outdoor Structures: Increase living and entertainment space with an outdoor structure. Enjoy dinner or cocktails outside by adding comfortable outdoor furniture and kitchen elements.
  • Lighting: Proper lighting not only illuminates a dark space but it can add ambiance to your outdoor areas, accent a beautiful landscape at night and extend the time you spend outdoors.
  • Decorative Vases & Planters: Add a touch of color and accent your space with decorative planters filled with the vibrant seasonal colors of perennials like pansies, salvia and violas.
  • Fireplaces & Fire Pits: Create a gathering place for keeping warm, making s'mores or just relaxing by the fire.
Landscape and Outdoor Living Planning

Having a landscape plan for your property will ensure that all of the parts of your landscape and outdoor areas are considered, taken care of and work seamlessly together. With a good landscape plan, it is easier to set priorities, budgets and allow for projects to be integrated smoother. Through careful and detailed planning now, you can look forward to a beautiful and healthy landscape that improves the value of your home or property for years to come.

First, set your priorities. Make two lists: one for what you want (Want List) and one for what you need (Requirement  List). The Requirement List is just as important, if not more, since it is best to resolve issues such as drainage problems, irrigation needs, retaining walls or diseased plants before spending time and money on your Want List (outdoor construction projects, water features or new garden areas). Continue reading article
