Dear Parents,

Car pool pick up has been going smoothly these days. We have been ready for "all call" as early as 3:45 p.m., which means the car line is nearing the end. With that being said, please make sure you are here or near the school for pick up at the normal 3:30 p.m. release time.
Yearbook Signing/Ice Cream Social Yearbook

The PAC is hosting a Yearbook Signing and Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, May 15. Please click on SignUp Genius to volunteer or lend your rolling cooler.
Car Wash Fundraiser Car wash

The PTO is hosting a Car Wash fundraiser from (after pick up) 4-7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 16, at Sunaharas' Car Wash, located at 9151 Commerce Center Circle (Santa Fe and Town Center Drive). Simply wash your car in any of the three self-serve bays or automatic wash, and the school will receive 25 percent of the sales. Tell all of your friends and family - any cars washed during this period of time will be included in the fundraiser! Information also went home in Thursday folders. (Alternate date in case of inclement weather is Thursday, May 23. It doesn't snow in May, right?)
Bake Sale

We are excited to have another K-8 bake sale during the lunch hour for our students on Friday, May 17. Our last bake sale proved to be a great fundraiser for our middle school students. We are excited not only to taste some of the great selections available, but also for another great fundraiser. Prices are $0.50 each.

If you are interested, you can fill out the form here. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via email. Applications will be accepted through 5 p.m., Friday, May 17.

Volunteer of the Month

The PTO highlights one volunteer each month who has gone above and beyond in his/her contributions to the school. This volunteer receives recognition in this newsletter and on the school website. S/he also has the privilege to park in one of our reserved parking spaces.

For May, we have chosen Amber Clendening. Amber volunteers in the lunchroom on Thursdays. She also helps with Box Tops, in her child's classroom, car pool, volunteers for the Baking Committee and worked on the Ben Franklin Academy cookbook. She is always willing to help out on various projects around school and does so faithfully and quietly.

When asked what she likes most about Ben Franklin Academy, Amber responded, "I guess you could say that I really enjoy seeing the kids' smiles and getting to know all the folks that Chase interacts with every day. It's always fun when one of the kids is happy to see you and you can make their day better somehow. I love being a part of the BFA community and getting to know more people all of the time. It's important for me to make sure my kids see that I think their education is very important. Thank you for choosing me, I'm a little at a loss."

Thank you, Amber, for all that you do!  For more information about volunteering, please click here.

Mission: Our mission is to develop young adults with character like America's founding Renaissance man, Benjamin Franklin: well-read, scientifically curious, and civically engaged.

Vision: Our students will excel academically through a challenging, sequenced curriculum that emphasizes math, science, and literacy. We will be a data driven institution, focusing on individual students. Our students, teachers, parents, staff, and leaders will be held accountable for the success of our school. Finally, we recognize that an education is incomplete without fostering the arts, sports, nature, and character.
