Curriculum Corner
We are beginning to learn about spring and all of the wonderful changes that occur. Now that the weather is getting warmer, take some time to explore the world with your child. Go on an adventure and pick up random treasures in nature, climb trees, watch the movements of a squirrel, dig in the dirt or go out at night and look up at the stars. The amount of things you can do with your child in the great outdoors is endless. Think back to when you were a kid, and have fun!

A special note from our fabulous PTO Fundraising Coordinator, Amy Sunahara:

Wow! (And that's an understatement.) Thank you to everyone who donated items to the preschool baskets for the BENefit Bash silent auction. We were able to create two baskets that are worth $370 collectively. We simply couldn't have done it without you, and we are so grateful for your generosity. We are going to have a great showing at the BENefit Bash!

The following include descriptions of the preschool baskets:

  • Outdoorsy Busy Bees Basket (Fair Market Value: $190): Thank you to the BFA preschool for this basket that will help keep your "busy bees" entertained outside this summer.
    • Bat/baseball set, two basketballs, glow-in-the-dark soccer ball, racquet and ball set
    • Sand toys, three-pack Speedo goggles, Wiggling Water Sprinkler, sunscreen
    • Two hula hoops and Darth Vader kite
    • Bubbles and sidewalk chalk
    • $25 gift card to Sunaharas' Car Wash
  • Rainy Day Busy Bees Basket (Fair Market Value: $180): What happens when the weather is not as cooperative this summer? This basket from the BFA preschool will help keep your "busy bees" entertained inside on those days when there's inclement weather.
    • Washable markers, crayons, Twistable crayons and colored pencils
    • Pencils, sketch pads, scribble pads, 3-in-1 activity pads (tracing, construction and scribble paper)
    • Coloring books, stickers, Play-Doh and modeling clay
    • Washable paints, watercolors and paintbrushes
    • Foam crafts: train, princess castle, letters with nameplate
    • Wooden bead set and make-your-own bracelet kit
    • Fur Real - Snuggimals Walkin' Ponies toy
    • Hungry Hippos and Scrabble Slam! card games, Curious George books and Slinky Jr.

In addition, Mrs. Olson and Mrs. Savoy are donating teacher experiences to the silent auction:

  • Baking with Mrs. Olson (Fair Market Value: $30, Quantity: 2): Please join Mrs. Olson at her house for three hours of fun that includes baking, lunch and a craft. You and a friend get to bake sugar cookies that we will make into flowers by adding a "stem" and placing in a wonderful clay pot centerpiece decorated by YOU.
  • Fun Crafts and Ice Cream Sundaes with Mrs. Savoy (Fair Market Value: $25, Quantity: 2): Mrs. Savoy will provide a few fun crafts to make with your student and a friend of his/her choice. When finished, you will have yummy ice cream sundaes at Mrs. Savoy's house.

If you haven't yet, think about attending this year's BENefit Bash. It is from 5:30-11 p.m., Saturday, April 27, at the Denver Marriott Tech Center. Principal Barber's newsletter has all of the information you need to know about the Bash or you can click here for information. In addition, check out the auction catalog - these are fantastic items, and with more than $90,000 worth of donations, you are sure to find something! If you can't attend the event, you can still participate in the online auction

Quote of the Week
Mrs. Furnier's class has a question of the day. This week, she asked the children if they have ever touched a frog. Hailey responded, "Frogs don't know the way to my house!"

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Kristen Goldberg
