Dear Parents,

We are in the initial stages of fundraising for our eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C. Last Thursday, we had our first meeting to identify what events we would like to pursue in order to raise the most money and spend our time wisely. Below are some of the events we decided on at this meeting. Please look to see if you would be interested in helping out with any of the events.

Student Council

I would like to introduce our middle school families to our amazing Student Council. They have been hard at work with Ben Franklin Academy's Green Team initiative to strengthen our recycling program. They have been preparing a plan to allow for more opportunities to get the recycling bins out of the classroom and into the recycling dumpster. They also were responsible for getting the candy grams going during Valentine's Day to kick off the fundraising efforts for our middle school.

TEDx Youth Event

All middle school students have the privilege to attend a TEDx Youth Event from 1-1:45 p.m., Friday, April 12, at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver. The cost is $10 to cover transportation. Please sign up by clicking here.

Science and Weather at Coors Field

On Wednesday, April 24, students have the opportunity to attend the Science and Weather event at Coors Field. Buses will depart school at 9:30 a.m. and depart the stadium at 1:30 p.m. The general field trip will be for the Science and Weather show with an option to stay for the baseball game.

The cost for the field trip is $23. Parents have three options to consider:

  • Option 1:  Baseball Game/Parent who will meet at the stadium and drive their own child(ren) home (Parent single way)  $23
  • Option 2:  Baseball Game/Parents drive their own children (Parent roundtrip)  $23
  • Option 3: Student attends the Science and Weather event only and rides the bus both ways $23

Any child riding on the bus will need a permission slip and a medication plan for the day - even if s/he will be riding home with his/her parent. To register, click here.

Mission: Our mission is to develop young adults with character like America's founding Renaissance man, Benjamin Franklin: well-read, scientifically curious, and civically engaged.

Vision:
Our students will excel academically through a challenging, sequenced curriculum that emphasizes math, science, and literacy. We will be a data driven institution, focusing on individual students. Our students, teachers, parents, staff, and leaders will be held accountable for the success of our school. Finally, we recognize that an education is incomplete without fostering the arts, sports, nature, and character.

Ben Franklin Academy's 13 Virtues:
Temperance, Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Industry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation, Cleanliness, Tranquility, Purity and Humility.
