Dear Preschool Families,

To develop a community among preschool families, we have designated Shannon Hinrichsen to act as a social coordinator for the preschool.  She partners with the Ben Franklin Academy Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) and plans activities for the children to participate in after school hours.  Unfortunately, we have not had a lot of participation in these activities. Please take a moment and email the PAC with your responses to the following questions.

  1. Do you want to have organized preschool play dates?
  2. What time and days work best for your family?
  3. What suggestions do you have for activities?
  4. Would you like to help plan play dates for your specific class?
  5. Would you like moms or dads day out events?

Thank you for taking the time to respond!  Be sure to put "preschool" in the subject line.

Upcoming Play Date

Yak Academy offers play-based world language immersion classes. They have offered us a free play date class. Take this opportunity for your child to have a play date with their fellow classmates and learn a little foreign language while having fun! Spanish will be taught through fun songs and games. For the class to run, it is requested that a minimum of five children sign up (maximum of 15). Parents are welcome to stay. Feel free to check out Yak Academy's website. Details for the play date are as follows:

  • 12:45-1:45 p.m.
  • Wednesday, March 13
  • Yak Academy Learning Center, 8150 S. University Blvd., Suite 120 (Centerstage Starz Dance Studio), Centennial, 80122
Please email Shannon if you will be attending.

Don't forget to check out your child's class web page:
  • Mrs. Furnier's class made their own cars and driver licenses.  It was interesting to hear what color eyes and hair each child thought they had. What a keepsake!
  • Mrs. Olson's class made hot air balloons with inspiration from the Dr. Seuss book, Oh, the Places You Will Go! The basket of the balloon holds a special message from each child of where they would like to go. Take a moment and read their quotes. Another great keepsake!
  • Mrs. Spurgeon's class has been transformed into a veterinarian clinic. The kids have been very engaged in caring for their pets - giving shots, using the X-rays and lots of TLC.
