Dear Preschool Families,

We are in need of more parent volunteers! Volunteering allows you to see your child's class in action, know first hand what skills s/he is working on, who his/her friends are and watching your child in a school environment.  You should have received an email from your child's teacher for SignUp Genius to sign-up for a specific time slot.  If those times do not work, please reach out to the teachers to set up a different time that works.  We would love to see you in the classroom!

Classroom Highlights

Here are a few highlights:

  • Mrs. Furnier's class is learning about size as they explore Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The children learned a fun song to go with the story and made a book that divided the three bears' items into small, medium and large.
  • Mrs. Olson's class is learning about the different holidays people celebrate.  If you have a special holiday your family celebrates, we would love to learn more about it and share with the class.  With so many different holidays this time of year, it is a great time to embrace the many differences that make us unique.
  • Mrs. Spurgeon's class talked about the Gingerbread Man.  They read the story and made their own special character.  They also are learning about the differences in animals (fur, scales, etc.).  Check out all of the new art work in the class as well.
I will always post a few different activities, but please check your teacher's web page for more detailed information.  Each page is password protected to enable us to post pictures for you to view.  Please do not share the password with any people outside of the class.  You can obtain the password through your child's teacher.
Fall Enrollment

Preschool

I hope everyone has enrolled, or is wait-listed in their class of choice.  If you were able to register, you were accepted into the class.  I will send out a confirmation email before our holiday break.  Future emails regarding fall 2013 will come as the year progresses.

Preschool enrollment is now open to non-preschool Ben Franklin Academy families.  Registration will open to the public on Monday, Jan. 7.

Kindergarten

If your child is enrolling in kindergarten, the registrar will be sending out confirmation emails in the upcoming weeks to all families accepted into the school.  Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Quote of the Week
Mrs. Furnier shared this quote: "Nikolas' shoes kept coming untied. The second time I tied them, he said, 'These shoes are naughty.'"
