BFA Science Fair
|
We are excited to inform you that your middle school student(s) will be participating in the 2013 Ben Franklin Academy Science Fair, with project work starting in November and finishing in January. Students will work as individuals by selecting a topic from Intel's Science and Engineering Fair categories, create a research plan, perform an experiment and produce a display board accompanied by a typed abstract. During this process, parents are encouraged to provide support and supervision for their student (especially by keeping them on track to finish on time); however, the project should be the original work of the student. Encourage your child to be creative!
The middle school portion of the Ben Franklin Academy Science Fair will take place during the week of Jan. 21, 2013, and the event will be competitively judged. Roughly a dozen projects will be selected to represent Ben Franklin Academy at the Denver Metro Regional Science and Engineering Fair at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013. This is a multi-county event attracting roughly 600 students each year, feeding the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair and ultimately, the International Science and Engineering Fair.

Outdoor Education

Outdoor Education was a huge success. Students came back with their eyelids half open but all said they had a terrific time. In the near future, we will have pictures posted to the website so you can get a sneak peak at some of the exciting events from the trip.

Adventure Education
|
I had the great pleasure to accompany our Adventure Education students to Boulder on Monday where we participated in both high ropes and low ropes courses. Students demonstrated team building skills and had a blast rock climbing and problem solving the various team obstacles.
