Terrific news from PMA International this week.
Peter Rose is to be given a Distinguished Service Award at PMA@CES.
I am sure you will join us in congratulating Peter. Great reward for many years of dedicated service!
Being honored for their invaluable contributions to the photo imaging industry with the 2013 Distinguished Service Award are Bob Friend, Rob Markoff, CPF, Brian Mundy, Margaret Remy, and Peter Rose.
They will receive their awards during the upcoming 2013 PMA@CES event at the LVH - formerly known as the Las Vegas Hilton - on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013.
Jim Esp put it well when he said "PMA is about promoting the growth of the imaging industry, and no one exemplifies what that means more than these five individuals. It is truly a pleasure to recognise them for their hard work and endless dedication to PMA, its membership, and to the Industry as a whole"
Peter Rose
Peter Rose, currently Director of Australian Activities for PMA, began his career in the photo industry at Hanimex in 1961, and first became active in PMA. He held several roles at Hanimex, eventually becoming Sales and Marketing Manager for Hanimex in Australia. In 1981, he was appointed the first Managing Director for J. Osawa Australia, a Japanese trading house for photographic equipment. In 1983, Peter, along with two key employees, founded a new company, Merit Imports - which eventually purchased Baltronics, a professional supply business that held the Sinar, Broncolor and Foba agencies. Merit sales grew rapidly with agencies including Mamiya, Vivitar, Yashica, Fotima camera bags, Panasonic flash and cameras, Sea and Sea underwater cameras, and Vivanco video editing equipment.
After 10 years in business, Peter sold his company to Hanimex and became General Manager of Camera House Australia, and in 1997, was asked by Kodak to head up the largest of their regions in Australia.
In 2005, Peter took on the director role for PMA Australia, where he has spearheaded the growth of the PMA Australia Annual Exhibition and Convention with the innovative introduction of the public to the event, and the expansion into framing, drawing framers to the PPFA Conference and Expo. The 2011 event drew over 20,000 trade, professionals and enthusiasts. Under Peter's guidance, PMA Australia also offers regional state meetings, and has developed the Future Leaders Program. He continues to coordinate the PPFA, APCI, PIEA and DIMA groups in Australia.
