There are days when every single one of us wants to be better ... wants to do better ... wants to become our best.  But sometimes we can't get past the simple fact that we don't have enough self confidence to go out and do things we need to do to get to the next level.

In this issue, we'll tackle some strategies from a Biblical viewpoint, that will help build your confidence!

We'll help you believe in yourself, because when you believe in the One who created you, you'll begin to understand that He believes in you and then ... you will believe in yourself!

Building Up Your Confidence

Founder & Executive Director
Kathy A.  Weckwerth

There have been times in my life when I've felt fairly confident in what I'm doing, how God is using me, and what I'm accomplishing.  And then it hits ... some experience that makes me feel like I'm totally inept.

Can you relate?

I realized that I was uncomfortable, unsure, and insecure when I was operating out of my comfort zone, and  that made me realize something very simple about myself ...
If I am too entrenched in what I do, I become complacent with who I am.

I was thinking all along that everything I was, all that encompassed my entire being, was what I knew how to do best.  Forty-nine steps back and I realized I had taken my place of residency up in the old "this is who I am and what I do," line of thinking.
I forgot that who I really am is this ... simply a Child of God.

Is it so bad, so boring, to just be God's child?  Can we accept that and not have to spin around, dance, and prove to the world
that we are valuable???

7 Key Verses to Help You With Your Confidence Level

I am a child of God!(John 1:12) "Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." NIV Bible.

I have a new life!(Colossians 3:4) "Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life-event though invisible to spectators-is with Christ in God. He is your life." The Message Bible.

I will not be afraid! (II Timothy 1:7) "For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self control. " ESV Bible.

I am starting out new and fresh! (Isaiah 43:19) "I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." NRSV Bible.

I am not broken, but am whole in Christ! (Colossians 2:9-10)  "God's whole nature is living in Christ in human form.  Because you belong to Christ, you have everything you need. He is the ruler over every power and authority." RSV Bible.

I am free from blame! (Romans 8:1-2) "With the arrival of Jesus, the Messiah, that fateful dilemma is resolved. Those who enter into Christ's being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud. A new power is in operation. The Spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death." The Message Bible.

I am confident!(Philippians 4:13) "I can do everything by the power of Christ. He gives me strength." NIRV Bible.

5 ways to start building confidence!
  1. Focus on what you're good at.  Whatever it is that you do, keep doing it and focus on that good feeling of accomplishment.
  2. Soak in the comments that you're good at something!  Don't downplay when someone takes time to say "Great job!"
  3. Set some short term goals.  Tell yourself you're going to start working on something that you want to get better at.  Practice.  Practice.  Practice.
  4. Stop comparing yourself to everyone else.  Focus on doing what you can do - don't look around.
  5. See God's opinion of you.  He believes in you, gifted you, and desires for you to be your best.  When your eyes are fixed on Him ... you will keep feeling more confident.

Trials to Triumph
Everyone faces adversity; it is an integral part of the life experience.
Who you are on the other side of the trial depends on how you face it ... Robyn Carr

Snapshot: Last week we learned that God wants us to be reconciled with others and also to Himself. In order to have a life that is full and free, we have to embrace forgiveness along with reconciliation.
Joseph forgave his brothers and reconciled his heart to theirs. That same reconciliation produced redemption for Joseph and his family, and parallels the redemption that Christ provides for each one of us with His death on the cross.

I drove by the house last night. The night was so dark, with a chilly breeze sweeping through my soul as I slowed down and craned my neck to look at it. The backyard, now overgrown with grass and weeds, no longer housed the huge trampoline where my kids spent hours jumping, spinning, and twirling about.

The darkened outline of the house seemed eerie and I felt the same horrific sadness begin to loom over me as it so often does. I pressed my foot to the gas pedal and moved along trying to snuff out the memories and the pain, but not before a few of them came seeping back into my brain.
