Riverdance - The Gathering

Exploring Irish Identity massive open online course
This year, the year of the Gathering, communities throughout Ireland are showcasing and sharing the very best of Irish culture and tradition. Hibernia College, in association with The Gathering, is taking this online by launching the first Irish massive open online course (MOOC) on the theme of Irish identity in April 2013.
The Exploring Irish Identity MOOC is available to everybody completely free of charge, no matter where you are in the world. All you need is access to the Internet and a desire to find out more about Ireland's culture and heritage. Click here for more information.

EU Open House
Join the European Union Embassies and the EU Delegation for our 7th annual EU Open House: a day of family fun, food, culture and more. This annual event is a highlight of the Washington May calendar and is celebrated during Europe Week, Each embassy will open to the public on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
We hope you can visit us at the Irish Embassy, where you can experience Irish music and dance, sample some Irish food, learn how to say a few phrases in the Irish language, watch demonstrations of Irish sport and rugby, and meet some of the local Irish organisations. Fáilte!

Eurovision Song Contest 2013!

The Swedish Embassy here in Washington will broadcast live the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Malmö, Sweden. The event will take place on 18th May from 2pm to 7pm. Transit - Creative Placemaking in Baltimore
In 2013 and 2014, EUNIC Washington D.C. will partner with the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts for the project "Transit - Creative Placemaking in Baltimore" which is funded by the Getting to Know Europe EU grant program.
A series of events focusing on Baltimore and European perspectives on urban culture and community development will take place in Baltimore.
This project will activate transit focused spaces in Baltimore's three Arts & Entertainment Districts and highlight the positive role of culture in urban development.

As part of "Transit" Backpack Jax and KLP, two hip-hop groups from Nantes in Western France, will present their new show on 13th May, within the framework of the Alliance's Urban Corps transatlantic hip-hop-festival that takes place in Washington, D.C. from 12 to 18 May 2013.
