Presidential Proclamation: Irish-American Heritage Month

Featured Gathering event: Writing Home Summer School 

   

Writing Home is a two-week summer school in fiction, poetry, memoir, history, geography, visual art, music and theatre comprising field trips, tuition, practice, performance and participation.  Established and aspiring writers are invited to participate in a unique and stimulating experience on the theme "Inspired by Landscape".

Mon, 8 April, 7.30pm-9.30pm.

The Writer's Center welcomes visiting Irish poets Siobhan Campbell, Ann-Marie Fyfe, and Iggy McGovern. 

The reading will be followed by a reception.  Free admission.

On 21st February Ambassador Michael Collins presented a Certificate of Irish Heritage to distinguished West Point graduate Ambassador Robert M. Kimmitt.

The presentation took place at the Embassy, at the reception hosted by the Ambassador for West Point graduates and Ireland Reunions.  Further information here.

Dublin: Celtic and Art Music at the Folger Shakespeare Library  

   

FOLGER CONSORT

Early music ensemble-­in-­residence at the Folger Shakespeare Library

With harpist Siobhán Armstrong, soprano Molly Quinn, and guest instrumentalists David Douglass, and Tom Zajac.

The concert samples the rich array of music from Ireland and its Celtic neighbors, including pieces for bagpipe, harp, and fiddle by Turlough O Carolan, William Lawes, and others.
