Jessie H. represented St. John Bosco at the Diocesan Spanish Spelling Bee for 8th grade. Jessie competed against nine other students and as the words get harder in the upper grades, the bee finished in five rounds. Maestra Avila is very proud of Jessie!
The Battle of the Books Team of Landon J., Kate R. and Michael L. represented St. John Bosco at the Chandler City Semi-finals. This SJB team had a perfect score which put them in first place! They will compete in the city finals with fewer schools, but tougher questions. They are up for the challenge and ready to read their way to the top!

Master Plan Update

Our annual May Crowning is Friday, May 1, immediately following the 8:15 am Mass. Please send a flower with your child to put at the feet of the Blessed Virgin Mother.

Bosco Blast to the Past
The 6th, 7th and 8th grade dance is next dance is Friday, May 1. The theme is 60s, 70s and 80s. The 6th graders can wear 60s, 7th graders to wear 70s and 8th graders to wear 80s. Admission is $5. Thank you for supporting Student Council!

Box Tops - Get Ready for the End of the Year Lunch! Calling all parents, students and teachers... this is the final push of the school year to turn in your saved Box Tops. Ask your neighbors, ask your co-workers, ask your family members for any and all Box Tops! The grade level who turns in the most Box Tops for the entire school year, will win a free dress day along with a delicious catered lunch featuring chicken, mac-n-cheese, potato salad, rolls, salad, dessert, and drinks sponsored by The Mlecko's. Deadline for turning them in is May 4th, so start bringing them in and good luck to all our teachers and students.

Sports Banquet
The End-of-the-Year Sports Banquet will be on May 6 in the MPR at 6:30 pm for all 5th - 8th grade students who participated in Cross Country, Flag Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Softball and Baseball at SJB this year. SJB Talent Show
This year's Talent Show will be on Thursday, May 7 from 1:30 - 3:00 pm. Below is the schedule as it stands for tryouts and results:
- Tuesday, April 28: Singing tryouts (2D classroom)
- Wednesday, April 29: Instrument tryouts (2D classroom)
- Thursday, April 30: Dance/make-up tryouts (2D classroom)
- Friday, May 1: Results will be posted for which performances make the cut.

The Book Fair is Going Under the Sea! Catch the wave to the next SJB Book Fair where you will find new books Under the Sea! The Book Fair will be Monday - Friday, May 11 - 15.

St. Benedict VBS Registration Open
Registration is open for the St. Benedict/St. John Bosco Vacation Bible School this summer!
June 15-19, 2015
8am-11am, Monday-Friday Incoming Kindergartners-5th graders (grade for the 2015-2016 school year) $55 for first child, $50 each additional child
During Vacation Bible School, children will Set Sail with the Holy Trinity to learn about our Catholic faith through the eyes of St. Patrick. As we sail through the week, your children will play games, create colorful crafts and enjoy healthy snacks. More importantly, they will experience the beautiful mystery of the Trinity and the amazing ways God shares love with us. Register TODAY!

Corpus Christi VBS Registration Open
VBS at Corpus Christi is happening the week of June 8 - 12, Monday - Thursday 8:30 am - noon, and Friday until 1:00 pm. The fee is $30 per child, or families with three or more children registering is $70 total. 6th graders will do community service activities each day except on Friday. Download the registration form and turn it in to the Catholic Education Office at Corpus Christi Parish. Please contact Denise Halloran with any questions.

Catholic Education Arizona (CEA) Applications
The application deadline for the first round of disbursements may have passed, but you can still fill out an application for second round disbursements with CEA. Catholic Education Arizona uses FAIR-Financial Aid Independent Review to process its applications. Please note that there is a $24.00 application fee. The application is available online or you can also download the CEA-FAIR brochure for 2015 - 16. The CEA school code is 700 and the school password is cea700. If you fax your supporting documents to FAIR, be sure to confirm receipt with FAIR.

We have Summer Movie Fun tickets! Our day is Friday at the Chandler Mall. Each pack costs $7 and you get an entire summer's worth of kid-friendly movies. Journey of Faith Elementary Religion Program: Catechists Wanted
We are now looking for teachers (Catechists) for the 2015-2016 school year to help guide our children as they grow in their faith. We are particularly in need of Catechists for the Journey of Faith sessions held on Wednesdays from 4:00-5:15pm throughout the school year. Come help us introduce our children to God and give them the nourishment they need to grow in their faith. Catechist/Teacher training and high level support provided. Saint John Paul II Catholic High School Coming to the Far West Valley
Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted is pleased to announce plans for a new Catholic high school in the far West Valley: Saint John Paul II Catholic High School. Coming in fall 2018, the new school will be named after our late Holy Father, whose leadership and call to holiness during his 27-year papacy resonates to this day.
