Reminder Regarding 3rd Grade Sacrament Prep Meeting
The mandatory parent meeting for the 3rd grade families with children preparing for Confirmation and Eucharist is tomorrow, Tuesday, November 4 from 6 - 7 pm in the SJB MPR. This is the ONLY meeting you need to attend (there is no need to attend the registration meetings held at St. Benedict, Corpus Christi, or St. Andrew).
We are beginning with the 3rd grade classes this year as they prepare for Confirmation and Eucharist. Next school year, we will integrate Reconciliation preparation into the 2nd grade.
Because of our multi-parish history, we will be retaining ties with our founding parishes and working with them to fully prepare our SJB children for their Sacraments.
This means that although much of our preparation will occur in the homes and in the classroom, the children will still attend the retreat at their registered parish, as well as receive the Sacraments at their registered parish. An in-depth explanation of the program will be given to the parents of children in the grades in which Sacraments are recommended to be received in the Diocese of Phoenix.
We hope to see all 3rd grade parents at this meeting!

Update to Parent Emergency Alert System
We've recently updated our emergency notification system to Parent Alert from RenWeb. This system allows us the opportunity to make sure that every family registered in RenWeb will receive updates via text, email or voice message. Here are a couple commonly asked questions about Parent Alert:
- What is Parent Alert?
- Parent Alert is a mass notification system comprised of SMS text messaging to cell phones and PDAs, voice calls to any phone and email. Especially in cases of emergencies, Parent Alert provides instantaneous communication to the school community. Parent Alert augment's RenWeb's current capability for mass email distribution enabling school officials, faculty or staff members to reliably distribute instantaneous alerts, via a variety of popular devices and media, to notify parents of incidents ranging from in-school emergencies to school closings. The system can also be used to send reminders for events such as early release days, field trips, fundraising events, etc.
- What does every family need to do to make sure they receive the alerts?
- Every family is already signed up for Parent Alert just by being registered through RenWeb! All you need to do is log onto your RenWeb account and update all of your email, telephone and cell phone contacts. Parent Alert uses the contact information on file in RenWeb. The texts or emails will be sent to the contact numbers and addresses listed in your account.

Catholic Education Arizona is a not-for-profit that supports 39 Catholic Schools. Over 55% of the families who receive financial aid from Catholic Education Arizona are families of 4 or more who have less than $50,000 in annual income.
A recent survey conducted by CEA indicated that contributors would rather give money to a cause/non-profit than to government, and receive a tax credit and federal deduction at the same time. When you give to Catholic Education Arizona, you do just that! There is no cost to you. You receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on your Arizona state income tax return.
Keep your state income tax dollars in our Catholic faith. When you get home today, pull out your return from 2013 and take look at your tax liability. Even if you receive a refund, you are paying taxes! You have a choice to give these monies to the state or you can help support those in
our Catholic community by keeping it in our faith. To learn more about how to donate, head to CEA's website and click on "Contribute" at the top of the page. And please consider designating your contribution to St. John Bosco.
