Emergency Notification System
We apologize if anyone today showed up to campus prior to notifications being sent out that school was closed due to the flooding. We have a few ways parents can stay alerted to emergency school news, including closures:
- Emergency text alerts: We strongly encourage parents to sign up for these alerts. To opt in, text "FOLLOW 911SJB" to 40404 and you'll receive the updates. If you start receiving "Discover Twitter" texts that are not prefaced with @911SJB, just reply back with "DISCOVER OFF" to turn off these notifications. You will still receive the emergency alerts from the school.
- Social media: Be sure you're following us on Facebook and Twitter as well to stay up to date with emergency notifications.
- Email: We also send out emergency alerts via email, so keep an eye on your inbox as well.

Peer aggression includes all the following types of aggression:
All of these types of aggression affect both boys and girls.
Physical aggression is visible and often easily recognized. It is a student physically harming someone or threatening to harm him or her. Verbal Aggression can usually be heard and overheard, so it can often be recognized.
Verbal aggression is when a student is using words to hurt someone. Put-downs, intimidating, name-calling, taunting, making faces, and eye rolling are all examples of verbal aggression, even when a person says they are "just kidding."
Relational aggression is behavior that is intended to hurt someone by damaging or manipulating his or her relationships with others. This is much less obvious than physical or verbal aggression, but painful nonetheless. Relational aggression sometimes takes the form of:
- exclusion
- building alliances against another person
- spreading rumors and gossip
- the silent treatment
- ignoring someone
- forming exclusive clubs or cliques
If a bullying event is occurring, we encourage your child, as a victim or a bystander, to notify an adult. If they do not and report only to the parents at home, ask for a meeting with the homeroom teacher. School administration and teachers are not always present to witness incidents or areas of concern, and therefore can only intervene when informed about them. Administration will take action to investigate and follow up with all appropriate parties and take appropriate action.
For more information on our anti-bullying policy, go to page 14 in our Parent/Student Handbook.
