Principal's Note

Dearest St. John Bosco Families,

Thanksgiving has come to mean turkey dinner and the heralding of the holiday shopping. Young children sometimes dress up as Pilgrims and Indians and enjoy feasts with their classmates. Many families have a tradition of going around the Thanksgiving dinner table and having each person tell everyone what they are most thankful for this year.

These are all very important traditions. However, we need to look deeper into the reasons that the Pilgrims were here in the first place. They were here seeking religious freedom. They came poorly prepared to endure the harsh New England winter. The Native American tribesmen were instrumental in helping the pilgrims survive the unforgiving weather and lack of food. These Indians taught the Pilgrims to hunt and grow crops and the first thanksgiving was a feast of thanksgiving for the great harvest and the blessings of friendship and religious freedom.

In some ways we are like the pilgrims when we thank God for getting us through some hard times and keeping our country free, safe and strong. As we enjoy our priceless American Freedoms, I hope this day reminds us to hold our families close in a spirit of gratitude and love.

It is my deepest hope that each of us experiences a happy and enjoyable family celebration. I pray that all of us have safe travels. Along with this, I also want to express my gratitude for the opportunity to work here at St. John Bosco Catholic School. I am thankful for such a caring and supportive staff, teachers and parents. I am especially thankful for our students who come to school everyday with open minds and hearts ready to learn.

My prayer is that God will continue to richly bless our St. John Bosco Community. May our love for our families and each other be a glowing connection to Jesus who gave all to connect us to his Almighty Father.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Dr. Marie Axman, Principal

Mom's Coffee and Conversation
December is a busy month for families. It is so busy that we often forget to take time to reflect on our faith.  This Advent, we invite the moms in our community to join together for Coffee and Conversation. Come take time to be with one another and with Jesus as we reflect on our faith over a cup of coffee. Join us on Thursdays during Advent (December 5, 12 and 19) from 8-9:15 am in Room 2. Children are welcome.
Rosary

We would like to welcome the SJB community to a rosary service every Friday at 7:50 am in the SJB Chapel.  We will begin with special intentions, a community lead rosary, and quiet prayer/reflection to follow.  We should finish in time to attend Mass with our children at St. Benedicts.
