Last week our 5th/6th grade flag football team played their first game against St. Thomas the Apostle and lost a tough game at home. In volleyball action, the 8th grade girls went 4-1. The 7th grade girls had an undefeated week, the 6th grade girls posted two wins and the 5th grade girls also were 2-0 with a nice home win over St. Mary Basha.

Conference week is here!  Please remember to take a quick look at the school schedule this week as we have made adjustments to accommodate our conference schedule.  Thank you to the wonderful parents who have provided food for our teachers during this very busy time.  ITBS testing has also started.  Please be sure your student eats a good breakfast and gets plenty of rest each day.

Conference Week Special School Schedule

Monday, 9/23/13

  • PreK, and Grades 1, 2, 3:  Normal start time with 3:05 dismissal
  • Grade 4-8:  7:45-12:00 Noon Dismissal (no lunch for Gr. 4-8)

Tuesday, 9/24/13

  • Noon dismissal for all students (no lunch)

Wednesday, 9/25/13

  • PreK - 4:  Noon Dismissal (no lunch)
  • Grades 5 - 8:  No school

Thursday, 9/26/13

  • PreK - 8:  Noon Dismissal (no lunch)

Friday, 9/27/13

  • Normal School day for all students
ESP will be available Monday-Thursday from noon-6:00, and Friday from 1:00 to 6:00

Evening of Culture 
Join us for our annual Evening of Culture on Thursday September 26 from 6-8pm in the MPR. We will have student artwork on display and will be hosting a dance troupe from Guadalupe.  This event is always a huge success as St. John Bosco unites to celebrate the Latino Culture with food, music, dance and community.  Please bring a dish to share!!


Moms' Club

The Moms' Club would like to invite all moms to join us for our first social event.  Come Un"Wined" with us on Friday September 27 at 7pm in the library.  Cecilia Knaggs, a fellow SJB mom will be doing a wine tasting of some local Arizona wines.  She has graciously offered her expertise and brings a wealth of knowledge for a fun evening.Appetizers will be served. Parish News
First Reconciliation

All parents who have a child in 2nd grade or older who have not received the sacrament of Reconciliation/Confession please plan to attend one of our scheduled Parent Meetings so we can get started preparing your child for this sacrament.  Please bring a copy of your child's Baptismal certificate for our records.

  • Tues, Sept. 24 from 6:15-7:00 pm in the SJB Library,

  • Wed, Sept. 25 from 4:15-5:00 pm in the SJB Library or

  • Thurs., Sept. 26 from 8:15-9:00 am in Room 2 at St. Benedict

This week our hours will be the same for the most part. Due to conferences and the noon release on Wednesday, we will be open from 11:30-12:15.  

 

Don't forget to link your Fry's VIP card to St. John Bosco to earn valuable funds for the school. In case you lost the instructions, here is how to do it:  

STEP 1: Creating an Online Fry's Account

 

**NOTE: If you already have an online Fry's account, skip to #2

*Go to  www.FrysCommunityRewards.com 

*Select 'Create an Account'.

*Under Sign-In information, enter your email and create a password. (Write down your email & password - you will need it in step 2)

*Select 'Use Card Number'.

*Enter your Fry's V.I.P Card Number, last name and postal code.

*Under 'Select Your Preferred Store' enter your postal code.

*Select 'Find Stores'.

*Choose your store then select 'Create Account'.

*You will then be prompted to check your email for a confirmation email.

*Click the hyperlink in your email to finish creating your Online Fry's Account.

*Continue to step #2 to register for the Fry's Community Rewards Program of your choice.

 

STEP 2: Register for the Fry's Community Rewards Program

*Go to  www.FrysCommunityRewards.com 

*Select 'Sign-In'.

*Enter your email and password then select 'sign in'. (This will be the email and password you created in step 1)

*Select 'My Account then select 'Account Settings' from drop down menu.

*Click 'edit' under Community Rewards. If prompted, enter personal information.

*Under Find Your Organization: Enter the NPO number or name of organization then select 'search'. (You can get the NPO number from your organization)

*Under Select Your Organization: Select box next to your organization

*Then select 'save changes'.

*If you have registered correctly, you should now see your organization information listed under 'Community Rewards' on your Account Summary page.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer of the Month 

Congratulations to Terri Lisi, our Volunteer of the Month! Terri worked diligently with our students during the recent MAP testing.  Terri is the proud grandmother of Rocco & Bella Gump and  Michael & Jack Lisi. Thank you for all that you do for SJB! If you happen to observe someone going above and beyond be sure to fill out a nomination form.

 

Please join us for our next PTO meeting on Wednesday, October 9 from 6pm to 7pm in the art room.    

Community News 
Family Mass and Feast of St. Francis of Assisi at Corpus Christi

3rd graders who are parishioners at Corpus Christi and preparing for sacraments are asked to attend at least one Family Mass a month.

 

Family Mass dates are as follows:  September 28, (Also the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi) October 26, November 2, November 23, December 7, December 14, January 11,January 18, February 8, February 22, March 8, March 22 and April 5.

Email information you would like published in the BITE to bulldogbite@sjbosco.org. Include the Monday date(s) you would like the information to run.  Photos and pdf documents may be included in your email.  
Early submission is encouraged.  
Information received after 3 pm on the Wednesday before the Monday publication will run the following week.
