Dear Families of St. John Bosco Catholic School,
Curriculum night was a great success. Father Bob participated in both of our opening programs and introduced himself. He lead us in prayer and closed the meeting with an invitation to parents to attend the all school Mass that takes place on Friday at 8:15 am. This meeting is such a great opportunity for parents to learn the expectations that teachers have for the students in their individual classes. In addition, the general meeting gives parents the opportunity to meet our specialists and hear about their requirements and expectations in their programs.
Here at Saint John Bosco, in concert with the over-arching philosophy of Catholic education, we believe that parents are the first and most important teachers of their children. Given this belief, it is so important for parents to come to these events in order to facilitate the connection of home and school that is at the heart of a successful educational program. Numerous studies have shown that when parents are active in their child's education their students achieve much higher success rates.
During these last few weeks I have been so impressed by the SJB parents. You are warm and caring and so generous with sharing your time and talents. I know we will have a successful and productive year. With Jesus as our guide and the best interest of our children in our hearts, we will all use our talents to make this a great year at Saint John Bosco Catholic School.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Dr. Marie Axman
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path...Psalm 119:105

Emergency Notification System Test
On Friday, September 6, we will be conducting a test using our emergency notification system. In the event of an emergency, St. John Bosco will utilize Twitter as its first step in notifying parents of the situation. Once it is assured that all students are safe and out of harms way, emails will be sent to parents via RenWeb. If you have not already done so, please take a moment, before Thursday, to follow "911SJB" on Twitter. By doing so, you will ensure that you receive any emergency notifications.
Instructions
- On your cell phone text: FOLLOW 911SJB to 40404.
- You will then receive one of several messages depending on your cell phone provider and whether or not you currently have a Twitter account. Follow the directions you receive in the message.
If you have any questions or need assistance please contact Lisa Campbell Watson. 480-219-4855 or lwatson@sjbosco.org

Juice Pouch Collection
SJB Girl Scouts and CAP (Conserve and Preserve) have teamed up to recycle juice pouches such as Capri Sun and Honest Kids. The pouches will be sent to TERRACYCLE, where they will be "up-cycled" or made into useful products such as lunchboxes and tote bags. With every juice pouch collected, we are saving Arizona landfills from non-recyclable trash as well as earning money for our school. As of last June, we received $148 from Terracycle for use towards environmental projects through CAP. We collected over 3,000 juice pouches, earning $.02 - $.03 per pouch for school environmental projects.
